Located on Mount Zlatar, near Konjic, is a site known as Tito’s bunker. Before its true purpose, interior, and impressive underground size were revealed, it was simply a house in the middle of nowhere, as the saying goes. Over 30 years ago, this atomic shelter was constructed as the main command post of the former JNA. The construction took 26 years and required an investment of $4.6 billion. Only four official commanders were aware of the facility, and the workers were required to sign confidentiality agreements.
A roughly one-hour drive to Konjic, a fascinating city in Herzegovina rich in history, will bring you closer to the Bunker.
