A Breezy Start to the Day

The day began with a call from our guide, Radar, who offered to pick us up just a street over from our hotel. This small gesture set the tone for the day—a laid-back, friendly vibe that made us feel like we were in for a treat. As a surfer who’s spent countless hours chasing waves, I know the importance of a good guide, and Radar was just that. She was punctual, entertaining, and full of local knowledge, making the ride to Tybee Island as enjoyable as the destination itself.

The weather was a bit chilly and windy, not the ideal conditions for a dolphin cruise, but the spirit of adventure was in the air. The boat owners were incredibly accommodating, offering refunds to anyone hesitant about braving the rough waters. But for those of us who live for the thrill of the ocean, turning back wasn’t an option. We set out on the dolphin cruise, and although we had to return early due to the choppy seas, the experience was exhilarating. The company was gracious enough to offer a refund, which was a nice touch.

Lunch at the Crab Shack

After the cruise, we headed to the Crab Shack for lunch. This spot is a must-visit for anyone on Tybee Island. The atmosphere was relaxed, with a rustic charm that made it feel like a hidden gem. Our next stop was South Beach, where we had time to explore the pier and do a bit of shopping. The local shops were filled with unique souvenirs, perfect for remembering our day on Tybee Island.
