A Journey to the Depths of Marietas Islands

The allure of the ocean has always been a siren call for me, and the Marietas Islands in Riviera Nayarit promised an underwater paradise that I couldn’t resist. As a marine biologist, the opportunity to explore a nationally protected bird sanctuary and marine haven was too enticing to pass up. The journey began with a scenic 45-minute van ride from Sayulita, a charming coastal town that has become a favorite among travelers seeking both adventure and tranquility.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming team at Oceano Adventures. Casper, our dive leader, exuded a calm confidence that immediately put me at ease. Despite having numerous dives under my belt, I often find myself feeling a twinge of nervousness before each dive, especially after a hiatus. Casper’s detailed dive plan and reassuring demeanor were exactly what I needed to quell any apprehensions. His ability to read the group and provide space for individual exploration while ensuring our safety was commendable.
