After a brief orientation, embark on an 8 km/5 mi round-trip hike to the summit. The trail meanders through lush tropical jungle, immersing you in the sights and sounds of nature. As you ascend, the moderate climb gradually reveals stunning vistas. Near the top, a short rock scramble will lead you to the summit, the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the Pacific Ocean, framed by panoramic views of the coastline and jungle.
Throughout the hike, if you’re interested, the operator will share insights into the local flora and fauna, as well as history, traditions, and little-known cultural facts about this unique area.
Descend along the same trail, this time guided by headlamps provided by the operator to ensure a safe and comfortable return. Back in Higuera Blanca, take a private car or taxi back to Sayulita, concluding an unforgettable experience.

Amazing time! - The hike was awesome! Jair is so kind and knowledgeable about the area, I learned a lot about the flora and fauna and the history of the mountain. 10/10 experience overall

Amazing Monkey Mountain Journey - An amazing hike with an excellent guide. As an elderly gent I would rate the hike as moderately difficult given the elevation change. More difficult if you hike in the afternoon heat. Good hiking shoes a must. Spectacular views.

A nice hike that overlooks Sayulita - Jair was an accommodating and knowledgeable tour guide. The hike through jungle and mountain has a lot of interesting and unique flora. Seeing the sensitive plant in it’s natural habitat is one of the highlights for me.

Great for the solo traveler - Jair is a lovely human and it was a pleasure joining this tour! Definitely felt like a great deal $$ wise. Hike was great and I was glad to have done it in the morning as it was getting hot near the end. Definitely recommend for anyone!

Beautiful place with a gorgeous view! - The hike was great. It's important to wear sunscreen and a hat. Our guide was very kind to us and was close to us throughout the tour, helping us and showing us nature.

Excellent tour - The tour is a beautiful hike up Monkey Mountain to a peak with amazing views. Jaír was the guide and he was so knowledgeable and explained interesting facts all along the way. I am trying to learn Spanish and Jaír graciously let me practice speaking Spanish which I’m sure required a lot of patience on his part. I also learned a lot of interesting things about native plants and animals. The actual hike is just beautiful. I highly recommend this experience.

Still sore! - Monkey Mountain was a beautiful hike with incredible views at the top—but wow, it was way more strenuous than we expected! We’d read reviews saying it was moderate, but it definitely pushed us more than anticipated. We *thought* we were in decent shape… turns out, not quite! Still, it was a great workout and totally worth it—just be prepared for a real climb and bring plenty of water.
