A Day of Discovery and Delight

The sun had barely risen when I found myself on the shores of Tobago, ready to embark on an adventure that promised to be as thrilling as it was relaxing. The Tobago Island Tour was a private all-day escapade, and I was eager to explore the island’s hidden gems. As a former professional surfer, I’ve always had a deep connection with the ocean, and this tour seemed like the perfect way to experience the island’s natural beauty.

Next, we ventured into the Tobago Main Ridge Forest Reserve, a lush paradise teeming with wildlife. The forest is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including the Sabrewing Hummingbird. At Shurland’s, we had the unique opportunity to feed these magnificent creatures. Holding the feeding cups, I was amazed as the hummingbirds fluttered around me, their wings creating a gentle breeze. It was a Mother Nature moment at its finest, and I felt a profound connection to the island’s natural wonders.

Culinary Delights and Sunset Views

As the day progressed, we stopped at several picturesque beaches and small towns, each offering its own unique charm. We indulged in authentic street food, sampling dirt oven-baked breads, doubles, and fresh coconuts. The local lunch at Shurland’s was a highlight, featuring a delicious spread of fish, chicken, and vegetable entrees, followed by the best chocolate tea and soursop ice cream I’ve ever tasted.

The tour concluded with a stunning sunset at one of Tobago’s most beautiful beaches. As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the day’s experiences.
