Het Tolhuis, situated at Buiksloterweg 7 in Amsterdam-Noord, boasts a rich history dating back to the 17th century. In 1662, a tollhouse was established here, where skippers paid tolls to navigate the Buikslotervaart. The building also served as a residence for the toll collector and his family and soon became an inn for travelers who could not access Amsterdam after the city gates closed.
- Middenbeemster - The UNESCO reclaimed land above Amsterdam is called the Beemster Polder, this is where we drive through to our first tulip field.
It is part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam (Stelling van Amsterdam), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Beemster Polder, reclaimed from a lake in the early 17th century, showcases a perfect example of Dutch ingenuity in water management.
