After crossing Carbery’s 100 Isles by ferry, arrive at Cape Clear Island. Upon reaching the north harbor, take some time to explore this Gaeltacht Island, immersing yourself in its culture and the life of the islanders, including their ancient traditions and traditional farming practices. Discover the island’s historic standing stones, the Napoleonic Tower, Dún an Óir Castle, a 12th-century church, and visit the memorial dedicated to the 1979 Fastnet Yacht Race Disaster. From one of the walking trails, catch a view of the Fastnet Rock Lighthouse in the distance, or enjoy a meal at one of the island’s bars and restaurants.
After lunch, board the ferry again to visit the lighthouse. On the way, enjoy sightings of the magnificent whales and dolphins! The journey includes a circumnavigation of ‘An Carraig Aonair’ or the ‘Lonely Rock,’ allowing you to appreciate its history and culture. After circling the Rock twice for the perfect photo opportunity, the journey continues homeward, offering breathtaking scenery until reaching the final port.
