To do... - I recommend arriving early, around 9am to prevent the Wadi from filling up with tourists. Needed:shoes for walking between slippery rocks and that can be used in the water. Clothing for women better cover up in the first stretch for the presence of local men. Bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses and hat. Recommended to take a guide. On departure they sell shoes and accessories useful for the excursion, even life jackets. After a walk of about 45 minutes, you arrive at the first pool, then you continue mainly swimming and on slippery rocks that the guide advises you how to deal with. You cross steps through rocks and arrive in the last pool where you will find a waterfall that you can climb up through a rope. Be careful because it is very easy to slip and then you can get hurt. The hike is pleasant though a bit tiring. Those who want can stop at the first pool to sunbathe and swim. You can use the bikini being a tourist place. Duration about 3 hours. A trip absolutely recommended.

The treasure of Oman - Easy to access, the hike starts with a short boat crossing (1 OMR per person Round trip). You will then have to count about 1 hour of walking on a marked and easily passable trail. You will first pass by a body of water where swimming is prohibited then a 1st swimming pool before reaching the 2nd pool which is privileged by bathers. At the bottom of it is a waterfall hidden in a small cave. Provide shoes that go in the water, a jersey and a waterproof pouch for your valuables. We left our bag and hiking shoes on the edge of the basin for the duration of swimming and exploring this cave. Count a minimum of 2 hours in total to make the round trip, more if you wish to settle and relax. Last boat back at 17:30

Great experience! - My husband and I had a half day hiking in Wadi Shab and it is for sure one of the best place to be in Oman: the landscape is beautiful and you'll see a lot of wonderful colours from the water, the rocks and the green of cultivation... We visited the wadi with Abdullah, which was really helpful and made the experience even better, giving us a lot of suggestions. He made sure that we didn't miss anything: jump from the cliff, entering the cave, climbing the waterfall... and everything in complete safety. We also had the chance to chat with him and discuss a lot of interesting facts about Oman on our way back. Wadi Shab is wonderful, but surely he made it great, so we really suggest to contact him if you are going to visit the wadi: you can reach him via Instagram messenger (@oman_raw_explorer).

So worth it! - Wadi Shab is rightly famous as a sensational piece of nature. We didn't go with a tour or guide, we just made our own way after watching some excellent videos on Youtube, and it was a great experience. While there were a fair few people when we went there, arriving about 9 am in January, it didn’t seem crowded. Sturdy shoes for clambering over boulders are a must, as some of the way can be tricky and not for the faint hearted. Taken slowly, with the occasional stop to drink in the view, this was a highlight of our time in Oman. Have your 1 OMR per person (return) ready for the ferry from the car park to the start of the walk. Once you reach the second swimming hole, the best option is to make your way in the water, swimming and walking further into the wadi. Beware of slippery rocks near the surface and quite deep sections. Some were using buoyancy vests, which is a good idea if you are not a confident swimmer.

Sports outing - Not far from Muscat for this Wadi, but 45 minutes of trekking to get to the reward! Bathe in a cool water surrounded by a natural decor of rocks!

Spectacular - My husband and I took the guide to make this hike. After 15 minutes of walking you could stop at the first pool of water. After 45 minutes of walking, sometimes dangerous, because you are sheer on the slippery rock, we arrived at the real wadi. I had researched a lot and seen videos but nobody tells you that to get to the cave you have to swim for about 300 meters and the water is very high. The few places you touched, you had to be very careful not to slip on the rocks. However spectacular

Great walk and swim - This wadi is worth a trip: You start with a short boat trip (1 OMR for both ways)l Scenery rocks and the river. Cause we didn't have enough time (not so good planning from our side), we only went in for 20 minutes, took a nice swim into the cristal clear water and went back to and with the boat. You don't need a guide because there are lots of people on the same track. This would be a place to go back to in Oman and explore further!

Amaaazzzzzing and Out of the world Experience🇴🇲 - Amaaazzzzzing and Out of the world Experience!🇴🇲 Wadi Al Shab is a true hidden gem in Oman, a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Tucked between rugged mountains, this breathtaking canyon offers a magical blend of turquoise pools, dramatic cliffs, and lush greenery. The journey begins with a serene boat ride followed by a scenic hike through rocky trails and shaded date palms, where the views grow more mesmerizing with every step. At the heart of Wadi Al Shab lies its ultimate reward—crystal-clear emerald pools that invite you to swim through narrow pathways. The sunlight dances off the water, creating a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere that feels like stepping into another world. It’s a place where time slows down, and the beauty of nature takes over, leaving you refreshed and in awe. A must-visit oasis that truly captures the magic of Oman! Highly recommend going with a local guide as the terrain is highly uneven / slippery boulders and not easy to navigate at some spots. Must carry 1. Hiking shoes / shoes with good grip- don’t compromise on this 2.Swim wear beneath your clothes for enjoying the pools/ water shoes as the boulders in the pool are slippery 3. Go pro/ water proof action cam 4. Sunscreen/ cap/ sunglasses/Towel 5. Snacks/water 6. Rent Life jacket at the boat jetty to wade through the deeper pools We were a private group of 6 and our guide Mazin( Contact no +968 9821 2446) made our trip to Wadi Shab and Jabal Akhdar so memorable! Every moment was unforgettable. We appreciated his flexibility, attention to detail, and shared insights about Oman’s rich culture.

Great day trip - Rent the life jackets at the boat, the swim is quite long and deep in places. Take good walking shoes to reach the swimming spot and be prepared to rock hop and climb. Family really enjoyed it and was a super trip out.

Wonderful Wadi - I recommend arriving early, the parking is small and the site very busy, so it is not easy to find a place. The first section (lasting 30 seconds / 1 minute) is done by boat, at a cost of 1 OMR per person (to be paid in cash). After that, you continue on foot. The trek is very pleasant, the landscapes beautiful, just a shame that the site is poorly maintained (litter and dirt everywhere) and that it is frequented by screaming and rude tourists (mostly Indians...) The last stretch, to be covered by swimming, is not to be underestimated. The final cave, although suggestive, is dangerous: you don't touch it and the walls are very slippery... the bottleneck to get there is dangerous. In general, swimming in the river is also not to be underestimated: there are rocks everywhere, and the bottom is very slippery. You have to be careful. I recommend it only to those who can swim well and do not have anxiety and claustrophobia problems. Bring your rock shoes and pay attention to the boat times for the return..
