Colossal and imposing work of late Gothic. - Colossal, imposing, majestic you are left without qualifications to define one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals on the peninsula. Erected by royal command of Charles l to replace the old cathedral destroyed by the war of the communities. It was built according to the plans of Master Gil de Hontañón and the work was completed almost 2 1/2 centuries later, consecrated on July 16, 1768. Everything about it is remarkable from its mosaic-shaped pavement, the 22 side chapels in which highlight the one of the Piety with the altarpiece of the Holy Burial of Juan de Juni masterpiece of Spanish sculpture, the one of the Laying Christ with the sculpture of the same name made by Gregorio Fernández, the chapel of Santiago with 2 reliefs of the apostle in its altarpiece, in the central part of pilgrimage and the other on horseback commemorating the battle of Clavijo. Also mention the exceptional chapel of the Most Holy One with the Christ of Agony and its superb High Altar. Worth mentioning is the Trascoro whose central body was brought from the Riofrio Palace. Of particular note are the splendid grilles forged between the 16th and 19th centuries as well as the spectacular stained glass windows. The choir in front of the Main Altar with Gothic saddlery comes mostly from the old cathedral and inside are facing 2 magnificent organs. Also from the old cathedral comes the cloister work of Juan de Guas and was transported stone by stone to its current location. As a final note, the very elaborate silver Custody that goes out to process on Corpus Christi Day. It has a bell tower, the tallest in the city with magnificent views of it and the surrounding mountains. In short, you can’t miss it and you won’t be disappointed, you’ve spent your time admiring an exceptional work of architecture and the plastic arts.

Miy pretty😍 - A lot of history, very nice 😍 Segovia Cathedral is an outstanding example of late Gothic, built in the 16th century. It is known as the Lady of Cathedrals and stands out for its elegant tower and the harmony of its interior. Review written in Spanish by imperative of the Tripadvisor rules (NOT admitted CATALAN).From here I claim that it is Catalan, a language recognized by Tripadvisor.

The cathedral in Segovia... - The cathedral in Segovia is amazing in size and workmanship. Especially for a relatively smaller town that many travelers have never heard of. Also don't forget to see the Roman aquaduct.

Not to be missed. - A medieval architectural jewel. From the outside it reminded me a bit of the cathedral of Sevilla. Interior is not so different from other Spanish Gothic cathedrals. You can see that the upper-class inhabitants were very religious.

Essential to visit - Wonderful, we have been very surprised, we did not expect so much. Very well restored, everything very clean, the chapels, the choir with its two organs, the collection of painting and religious art are worth visiting calmly. The spectacular building. Your visit is essential if you are going to Segovia.

4€ and very little information - You pay 4€ per person, they give you a brochure with a very generic paragraph in Spanish about the cathedral and that is all the information you can find. Not an explanatory panel, not a description of anything. Since you can’t take the guided tour, forget about finding out anything unless you’re watching online all the time. Investing in an audio guide would not hurt or at least put panels in the different areas of the cathedral. There is only one in which the chapels are named, end. If you're interested in art history, zero information.
