Great tour, great guide! - Gustaf was a great guide! Very easygoing and accommodating towards various requests, including holding an impromptu barbecue on the last night. We hope he enjoys his retirement! The itinerary is also comprehensive yet well-paced, with exciting activities almost every day. Breakfast and accommodations are good for the price by Icelandic standards. Bathrooms are all private.

8 day minibus summer ring road tour - Recently did the 8 day minibus ring road tour. Excellent itinerary with all the top notch excursions that others only offer 1 of. Everything was organised and supported and our guide Thor was sensational. Cant beat local knowledge and your tourist $ stay in iceland not some overseas company. Assistance and care all the way. Cannot recommend them more highly. No having to sort accommodation, car hire, parking etc.

Worth every penny and incredible guide. - Absolutely LOVED this experience. Small group which was great and I was concerned about having enough time at locations but it was perfect. The accommodations were great along with breakfast. Most of all we loved our guide Pallie? (Sorry if misspelling) such a great sweet guy and beyond knowledgeable. Appreciated he was Icelandic himself and could feel his pride and true life experiences in such a stunning country. We wish him the best.

Outstanding. I absolutely recommend this tour to see the best of Iceland. - This trip was phenomenal. It truly was the trip of a lifetime. I didn’t know what to expect but Gylfi, our guide was fun, knowledgeable, and took great care of us. In fact, if I could build a dream tour guide for Iceland, the result would be Gylfi. We loved him. The tour was a great choice for us because we did so many things - glacier hikes, whale watching, waterfalls, lava tubes, and so much more. We felt like we truly got to see the best of what Iceland has to offer.

A wonderful and amazing tour in Iceland. - It was one of most memorable tours I have ever had. Our tour guide John drove us to see many of breathtaking views and beautiful natural places. He has the extensive knowledge of Iceland historically and geographically. He made the whole trip a fun and joyful experience for all of us. However, we had a hotel room with a really smelly bathroom in the last night of the trip. I guess they might just completed the renovation in the room. This is the only thing that could be better to us. Overall, it was a great trip with a great group and a great guide John.

AMAZING RING ROAD TOUR WITH TROLL EXPEDITIONS - Our tour with Troll was an incredible tour and it exceeded all our expectations. This was my husbands bucket list place and we didn't want to drive as we drive on the other side of the road so this tour was what we were looking for and I compared other tour companies and felt this was better value for money! What made this tour even more special was our guide, John. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Iceland, but also had a great sense of humor and attention to detail. Every morning John would recap the previous day, helping us remember Icelandic place names we could never pronounce - let alone spell! It become something we looked forward to, and it helped bring the whole journey together in a really thoughtful way. The group size was small 13 of us and the accommodations were clean and comfortable with breakfast included, and the minibus was spacious and we had WiFi included. John always gave us options for lunch & dinners which was helpful. We never booked the additional activities but my advice is to book them especially the VOK baths and Lava cave, we were able to add it on and pay when there but if you don't do them, you end up waiting for other tour members and we really enjoyed them also. The itinerary was well paced and covered all the highlights without feeling rushed. John even added extra stops which we appreciated and took group photos for us. Even in summer expect unexpected weather we experienced some bad winds and even snow but with John driving we were in safe hands. Like John says THIS IS ICELAND! an amazing country where the terrains changes all the time. We cant recommend this experience enough. If your considering Iceland and want someone else to handle the planning while you just enjoy the adventure go with Troll Expeditions, and if you get John, even better.

Iceland through John’s eyes! - It was an incredible experience! John our guide is so helpful, kind and informative about Iceland’s highlights. We added some amazing facts about life and Icelandic culture which is very appreciated because we are talking about Iceland: which is a very particular country with many constraints like the geography of the territory. Hotels were good with a generous breakfast (all you need) but most important: they were clean! Also it can be dangerous and exhausting to drive in Iceland so you wouldn’t enjoy as much the scenic landscape. 🤩 We felt very safe in John’s hands all the time and we were constantly looking through the windows. The value for money is I think the best in Iceland because in that price you have many included activities like glacier hike (stunning), Katla ice cave (tremendous) or even Whale watching. I also advice to take all the activities that are not included (even Vök baths) because the worth money. I felt in love particularly with the horse back riding, such a nice experience and the horses were very lucky to have such a nice owner! Overall an excellent experience and way of discovering “the Land of Fire and Ice” as John our guide would say. 😁 Thank you John, we will come back in winter to continue seeing this amazing country. You can book with your eyes closed. :)))

An Epic 8 Day Adventure Around Iceland - I am so glad that we booked this tour through Troll and got Jon as our excellent guide throughout the 8 days! Every day was an epic adventure, made even better by the fact that we didn't have to drive and were being guided by a local who knew all the best spots and timings (and even how to set up perfect photo framing of certain spots). Jon shared so much with us about Iceland we would never have found on our own, and even went out of his way to add in an optional evening excursion, after the rejuvenating Vok Baths, to his favorite puffin spot after Iʻd mentioned how much I loved them when seeing them a bit far off at one of our previous locations. Being eye-level with a puffin was an incredible experience and Jon got some amazing photos that he shared with us. The hotel accommodations, while not lux, were all clean, comfortable, friendly, some with excellent views, and Jon gave very good food recommendations for wherever we stopped, leading to some incredible meals (even shockingly good grocery store food and fabulous restaurants). The bus was comfortable with big windows, and my mother, who gets carsick, was fine the entire time. Even with around 17 people, it never felt like too many or too crowded. There was a very good balance of time together and independent exploration time, and everyone in the group looked out for each other and got along well. The activity level of the tour was perfect for us, as I was initially concerned that it might be too active for my mother (who says she is older, but spry), but I really wanted to be able to do some hiking in Iceland - she was able to do all of the many activities (and added optional activities), including the ice cave, lava cave, glacier hike, and just took them at her pace while I raced ahead. Another member of the tour though was not quite able to do all of the activities and it was a significant amount of walking per day, but she too did a remarkable amount. All the activities we did were well worth it (including all of the extras) and even after 8 days, I feel like there is so much more to see, and yet, this gave us the perfect taste of all around Iceland. Would happily go back and book another Troll tour (especially with Jon)!

Happy trip with Troll & Johann - My wife and I went on the 8-Day Ring Road Iceland tour from 6-13 June 2025. We did the classic counter-clockwise circumnavigation of the island across the island, encountering numerous amazing waterfalls and remote towns. The weather was kind to us, and for most of the time, it was sunny, although it was still quite cold. The mini bus (Mercedes Sprint) felt somewhat "compact" with 17 tourists (I believe the bus could take up to 19 tourists), but it was still somewhat comfortable. Special shoutout goes to our tour guide cum driver Johann Kari who regaled us with tales of Icelandic history and folklore. He was very friendly and patient in answering our questions, and was always very clear about the expected duration and return times at each site. He was confident and reassuring, which made the tour a very pleasant one. If we had more than 8 days on the tour, we would have wanted to stay longer at some sites e.g. to hike - maybe on our next trip!
