- Silfra Adventure Vikings - The journey from your Reykjavík accommodation to Silfra takes approximately 45 minutes. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your certified guide, gear up, receive a safety briefing, and then enter the glacially flooded fissure known as Silfra.
You’ll spend about 30–40 minutes in the water before exiting and taking a short 5-minute walk back. Afterwards, you can warm up with a well-deserved hot chocolate.
Photos will be taken during the snorkeling experience, typically 40–100 images, depending on the group’s size and skill level. These photos will be available for free download a few days later.
For the drysuit option, please bring your own thermal base layer. It’s recommended to bring thick (preferably wool) socks to keep your feet warm while snorkeling.
We are the only company offering both wetsuit and drysuit options, allowing members of your group to choose either option while still being in the same group in the water.
- Silfra - Silfra fissure is often regarded as one of the world’s top diving or snorkeling spots. This is due to the exceptional in-water visibility provided by the pristine glacier water that has filtered through lava fields for many decades. The average in-water visibility is over 100m/300ft. Many describe snorkeling in Silfra as feeling like flying due to the clear glacial water. Feeling thirsty? No problem, take a sip as the water in Silfra may be purer and better than the top-shelf bottled water you would buy at home.
Thingvellir National Park, where Silfra is located, is the meeting point of two tectonic plates with a gap of about 6-7km/4 miles between them. Snorkeling in Silfra means you are snorkeling between two tectonic plates.

Experiencing snorkeling within a chasm created by the separation of two tectonic plates is no ordinary experience! Known as Silfra, this extensive ‘gap’ runs parallel to the North American and a diminutive plate called Hreppar, which detached from the Eurasian plate.
Silfra is globally famous for its extraordinarily clear and potable water, offering over 100 metres of visibility daily. This unparalleled tour in Iceland is a rare adventure not possible anywhere else on earth.
Our company takes pride in being the sole provider of both wetsuit and drysuit options, enabling individuals within your party to choose different alternatives yet still share the underwater experience together.
Included in our service are photographs, typically taking between 40-100 snaps depending on the tour’s size. You’ll have the convenience of downloading these memories a few days following the tour.
We value intimacy and personally engaging experiences, hence our insistence on maintaining small groups, with just 6 people per guide. If your group consists of 7 or more, you’ll be given time together while gearing up, but once in the water, some of you will have to split up.
