Day 1: Izmir, Ephesus, and Laodicea
Ancient City of Ephesus - Guests will be greeted at Izmir Airport or Izmir Hotels and transported to Ephesus, a significant site among the “Seven Churches of Revelation.” The walking tour includes the Celsus Library, Odeon, Double Church (location of the Third Ecumenical Council in 431), and the “Marble Road.”…
Day 1: Izmir, Ephesus, and Laodicea
Ancient City of Ephesus - Guests will be greeted at Izmir Airport or Izmir Hotels and transported to Ephesus, a significant site among the “Seven Churches of Revelation.” The walking tour includes the Celsus Library, Odeon, Double Church (location of the Third Ecumenical Council in 431), and the “Marble Road.”
The Basilica of Saint John - The tour continues with a visit to St. John’s Basilica.
Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - This shrine is where St. John brought Mary, fulfilling his promise to Jesus to care for her, and it is believed to be the place from which she ascended to heaven.
Laodicea - After lunch, the journey proceeds to Laodicea, another of the Seven Churches, visited twice by St. Paul. The day concludes with a trip to Pamukkale for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Hierapolis, Pamukkale, Sardis, Philadelphia, Thyatira
Hierapolis & Pamukkale - The day begins with a visit to the ancient spa city of Hierapolis, home to Philip the Evangelist. Guests will then enjoy the stunning white calcium terraces of Pamukkale.
Akhisar - The tour includes a visit to the ancient ruins of its renowned church, another of the “Seven Churches.”
Sardis (Sardes) - The itinerary continues with a visit to the ancient Lydian capital of Sardis and the ruins of its notable church, also one of the “Seven Churches.”
Day 3: Pergamon, Izmir
Pergamon Ancient City - After breakfast, the tour heads to Pergamum (Bergama), described by St. John as the location of “Satan’s throne.” The sightseeing includes the Church of Pergamum, the Red-Court, and the Acropolis.
Agora Open Air Museum - Following lunch, the tour proceeds to Izmir (Smyrna), a city commended by St. Paul for the faithfulness of its early believers.
Saint Polycarp Church - The day concludes with a visit to St. Polycarp Church and a brief city tour, after which guests will be transferred to the airport for their flight home or to extend their journey with one of our short stay packages or other escorted tours.
