Love this experience - Another Muslim holiday day so we took the scenic route up the side of the mountain to avoid the highway traffic. Best 3 hour road trip ever. Got to see small towns, coffee plantations, and rice paddies. Seeing Borobudur for the first time is awe inspiring knowing it was built in the 9th century. The many carved panels along the walls told grand stories of past times. The views from every angle were awe inspiring. Our guide, Agung, and driver Slamet, were the absolute best! Agung arranged for lunch on the go so we could stop at Mataram Loewak Coffee to try Loewak coffee. Great experience!

Great and timely tour!! - We arrived in the cruise terminal and walked outside past the blue hard shack. At first sight we couldn’t find our guide. Further walking and asking a couple people by their cars they then brought out their signs w all the names.
In any event, the tour was fabulous. We were a tad anxious about our time constraints, but our guide and excellent driver were not. About a two hour drive to Borodura was uneventful and went quickly. Upon arrival we had to wait for a site specific guide, probably 30 min. The guide was fabulous and the hour on the site was plenty and he took some fabulous pictures of us!
We met our guide and promptly were whisked off to lunch. Lunch was REALLY good!!! We all enjoyed. We had about three hours to get back to the ship by 5:30 and we made it w about an hour to spare. The cruise ship busses got back about 45 minutes after us. The chaotic roads and unexpected delays while driving makes one a little nervous, but they definitely knew what they were doing.
I always worry about missing the ship, but everything worked out perfectly! I would definitely recommend. Professional and available by WhatsApp when I had a question.

Lovely UNESCO world heritage site - Picked up punctually at the port. Long drive but beautiful UNESCO world heritage site. The traffic was really bad as it was a holiday but it was an interesting drive and seeing the temple made it worth while. Lovely guide Denny and a good driver too. Due to traffic we didn’t have time for the sit down lunch included in the trip but our guide made sure the restaurant provided a take away box for us so we didn’t miss out and still get back to the ship in time. A long day bur a good one! 😀

Worthwhile!!! - Well worthwhile but not without some "moments" Because it was a holiday, traffic was extra horrific. A usual 2.5-3 hours commute to the destination took over 4 hours. However, it was so worthwhile. Our tour guide Moon gave us a lot of info to prepare us. At the UNESCO sight, Moon seamlessly took care all of the logistics for a smooth time. The ride back was an adventure as Moon and the driver navigated the traffic magically but keeping all of us safe. Excellent and Professional!!!

Private Tour to Borobudur is Worth the Trip - We had an excellent private tour to Borobudur from our cruise ship with Triste our guide and his skilled driver. The almost three hour drive is worthwhile for this amazing sight. Make sure to get off the ship as soon as allowed, your guide will be waiting. On the way Triste told us about the island of Java, its people, the different religions, plants and animals, and pointed out many interesting things. At Borobudur, everyone must put on special sandals they give you to wear, to help protect the temple. They also gave us a small bottle of water. Our guide then walked us to the temple the best way for views, explained what we were seeing, and at the monument guided us up and told us the story on the carvings and the meaning of the buddhas. After our tour, we went to a restaurant and enjoyed a delicious buffet with many choices. There was a gift shop there where we purchased a couple items. Then we were driven back to our ship and arrived at 4 pm. as we had requested. Thank you for a wonderful tour.

The Borobudur the way it should be seen - Very happy that we chose this company. All was as promised. We had an excellent guide who provided in depth explanations along the way about pretty much everything.....arriving at the Borobudur we were whisked past any queues and were assigned a specialist guide pretty much immediately (but remained available himself as well) so we weren't losing any time. The main advantage, though, is that you get to climb the Borobudur itself, which is generally not the case when going with a large group, as the government has set limits on the number of visitors per day or part of the day. As a result the place is not overwhelmed by tourists and you get a much better impression of this monumental temple. The views from above are impressive as are the stupas and all the different expressions of Buddha with their separate meaning on each level. An awesome experience. While the quality of the assigned guides seems to differ, our was very good and helpful.
On the way back they had organised a buffet lunch, which was quite good, in a place used by these 'personalised' tour operators. As there aren't many facilities catering for larger groups this was an excellent solution and much better than the overcrowded facilities we have experienced with cruise line tours.
All up strongly recommended.
