Explore the Danakil Depression - Guests are picked up from Semera airport at 8:00 am or from their hotel. After breakfast, the journey begins directly to Afdera salt lake town, with several stops along the way to enjoy breathtaking landscapes and coffee breaks to engage with the local Afar community. Following a lunch break in Afdera town, special permits and a ranger escort are arranged for security as the group heads into remote areas. The drive continues to Hamedela, arriving just in time for a stunning sunset over the Assale salt flats, where a picnic is enjoyed amidst excellent weather and a memorable sunset. The day concludes in the small town of Hamedela, established by salt miners, with dinner and an overnight stay at an open-air campsite prepared in advance. Overnight camping under a clear sky.

Early morning, before sunrise, the journey continues to the lunar landscape of the Dallol geothermal site, a unique natural wonder. Witness a live chemical reaction and experience a new perspective on colors. The tour proceeds to the salt and mud-formed mountain cave beneath the Dallol crater. A short 10-minute drive reveals a completely different world. A picnic breakfast is enjoyed near this cave. The adventure continues to the vast salt plains, the Lake Karum swimming saltwater pool under the scorching sun, and a visit to the salt miners before returning to Hamedela for rest. After lunch, the drive continues to the active Ertale volcano. The group reaches the camping ground at the top of the Caldera, followed by a 30-minute walk to the summit crater lake, currently in its active cycle. Awake with the sunrise and, after breakfast, drive to Afdera salt lake town, a major hub for salt production and distribution, situated at -102m below sea level, experiencing the highest temperatures in the Danakil depression. Enjoy lunch in town, take a glimpse of the salt lake, walk along the salt farms, and then drive back to Semera. Arrive in Semera by late afternoon, perfectly timed for a flight back to Addis. For those wishing to stay, transfers are arranged to their preferred location or hotel.
