A significant restoration project rejuvenated a 5.84 km stretch around the covered Cheonggyecheon-ro and Samil-ro, adding 22 bridges and converting the area into a serene urban retreat for residents.

Centered around Cheonggye Plaza, the area now acts as a cultural hub, hosting a variety of events and festivals. In recent years, it has also thrived as an artistic space. At creative venues like Gwanggyo Gallery and Cheonggye Creative Studio, visitors can enjoy the work of talented artists, while street performers infuse vibrant energy into the area on weekends.

  The creation and installation of 45,133 uniquely shaped exterior panels—DDP is a structure without straight lines or separate walls, both inside and out.

Designed by the esteemed British architect Zaha Hadid, DDP flows seamlessly like water, unlike conventional buildings that stand in contrast to one another. Here, spaces are not divided; the roof becomes the wall, and the wall transforms into the roof.   Seoullo 7017 is an urban regeneration project that converted an overpass, originally built for cars in 1970, into a pedestrian-friendly walkway in 2017. The Seoul Station Overpass, which connected the eastern and western parts of the city for 45 years, was deemed structurally unsafe with a safety rating of D in 2015 and faced demolition. However, it was reborn as Seoullo 7017, providing citizens with a vibrant green space and the joy of walking in the heart of the city.

The name 7017 reflects its history—built in 1970 and reborn in 2017—while also symbolizing the 17 pedestrian pathways it connects. Now transformed into a lush green walkway filled with a variety of flowers and trees, Seoullo 7017 serves as both an urban oasis and a bridge between neighborhoods.
