Korean Catholicism emerged 250 years ago (1786) as a unique movement, with laypeople exploring the faith on their own, separate from the Church. In the first century, there were over 10,000 instances of persecution and martyrdom, with 103 individuals canonized and 79 beatified.

Inspiration from the martyrs of Korea - Daniel came prepared and on time. He was knowledgeable and gracious. We enjoyed spending our day with him. Prior to the tour he asked if our priest wanted to celebrate mass in one of the shrines and he helped us make that happen. What a treat to have a private mass in the shrine where the martyrs are buried.
