‘OraeGage’ refers to a store that has preserved Seoul’s tradition and values for an extended period. It embodies the concept of an enduring establishment that people hope will continue to thrive. Since 2017, Seoul has been identifying and designating OraeGage stores to highlight the unique atmosphere and stories of Seoul, aiming to present numerous tourist attractions to both domestic and international visitors.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the local tales of Seochon and gain insights into the characteristics and appreciation of traditional Korean art. They can listen to narratives about artists and their creations from the Joseon Dynasty, as well as modern and contemporary periods of Korea. Additionally, they can visit local eateries to discover the origins and stories behind the cuisine, explore 500-year-old alleyways, and enjoy a traditional Korean lunchbox using traditional Korean currency. There is no requirement for additional shopping or tipping, nor is there any obligation to visit specific shopping malls.
