• Cabo Espichel - The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Cape Espichel, also known as Nossa Senhora da Pedra Mua, stands out as one of the most remarkable sites in the region due to its stunning location and extraordinary natural architectural ensemble. The veneration of this site began in 1410 when the revered image of Our Lady of the Cape was discovered at the tip of Cape Espichel by two elderly men from Caparica and Alcabideche, who received heavenly signs in matching dreams. Until the early 18th century, the area surrounding the original temple was surrounded by houses for pilgrims who traveled there to honor the image.
