- Church of the Former Monastery of Jesus - At the city’s heart stands the illustrious Convent of Jesus, dating from the 15th century (1490). It was the first convent of Manueline architecture and one of the few to survive the 1755 earthquake.

Its atmosphere evokes peace and silence, yet also the complexity of the Manueline style, reflecting the golden age of Portuguese discoveries.
An intricate and enigmatic style, where symbolism is woven into every detail of its design.

This region is renowned for its wines and cheeses and was historically a retreat for the nobility due to its favorable climate and proximity to Lisbon.
