Amazing Experience - This excursion is exactly as it is described. The helicopter ride is really cool. Note: there are 3 seats on the helicopter plus the pilot. Then you land on the glacier, which is just beautiful. They set up the dog sledding for you and you take a quick trip around the glacier. The dogs appear to be very excited to go for the ride. Then you get to play with the little puppies that are adorable and a little naughty. Finally, you get back on the helicopter to go back to the starting point.

Varieties of fun packed into one experience - Our guided tour company had handled the booking with Seward Helicopter Tours. When our group arrived in their warm office we were given snow boots to wear over our regular shoes so we could safely walk on the glacier and not track any foreign material onto the glacier. There were two portable toilets just outside the office. My husband and I were assigned to ride in a helicopter which could hold four including the pilot. There was a ground helper to assist us (mostly by gestures since the chopper was loud) with getting in and getting properly buckled. We put on headsets and microphones. Our pilot was not very talkative but the air was a bit choppy so I was fine with him focusing on flying. Even though it was a dark cloudy day, the scenery was absolutely amazing and we got great views of Godwin Glacier during our 10 minute ride. When we landed on the snow, a Turning Heads Kennel staff person helped us get out of the helicopter and led us to the fenced in area so we could interact with the puppies. Then another kennel staff person got us settled in on the dogsled and told us a lot about the training and the individual dogs on his team of 16. Each of us had an opportunity to stand on the back with the driver and yell commands to the dogs. After the ride the driver took some good photos of us with the dog team. We were on the glacier for about an hour. When our helicopter returned we loaded back in. I sat next to the pilot again and my husband was in the back seat; we were not allowed to swap places because they had assigned seats based on weight to keep the craft balanced. The trip back to base was smoother and we got great views of Resurrection Bay and Seward on our approach. This was a fun experience, my first time in a helicopter, and the only drawback was the weather – dark and cloudy, and it started raining while we were at the dog camp. I wore a ball cap, T-shirt under a rain jacket, gloves, and thin pants under rain pants, and I got cold. I should have added a toboggan hat to cover my ears and a light jacket under the rain jacket.

Helicopter ride, dog sled ride on a glacier - what else can you want! :) - Amazing experience! From the housekeeping overview (safety, etc.) when we arrived to the helicopter ride to the dog sledding - it was great! The staff was professional and very personable. The heli ride up was very cool. Pilot gave info on the area and what we were seeing on the way up. Dogsled guide was awesome. He told us about the dogs, the kennel, and how they live on the glacier and take great care of the dogs. Was cool to experience the sled ride and also get to interact with the dogs and see their different personalities (which the guide seemed to know very well). Very, very cool experience.

Best day ever - This experience was incredible! John, our helicopter pilot took us up to the glacier while showing us the sights from the air. The weather was drizzly and cold-perfect for meeting Matt, the Musher, who introduced us to all the amazing dogs, and then took us for a true dog sled ride. Afterwards we met 7 pups who will be trained for the Iditarod. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience all the way around

Absolutely loved holding the puppies. They were so cute! The energy and excitement of these huskies was so exciting. The crew taking care of the huskies were incredible. Our musher was student in college studying to be a vet. What an incredible experience for him. I would highly recommend this excursion. I would love to do this again!

A must do experience when visiting Seward - A must do experience when visiting Seward, you will not be disappointed!! From the pick up to drop off the whole team provided an excellent service. Special mention to “Matt the Musher” for allowing us to experience his unique work. His devotion and knowledge of his dog team and sledding shone through and enabled us to immerse ourselves and learn about a world that we didn’t know existed! Certainly one of the highlights of our Alaskan land/sea tour!!
