Overnight Train Journey from Shanghai to Beijing

Shanghai Railway Station - A courteous driver will pick you up at 4:45 p.m. from your hotel in downtown Shanghai and take you to Shanghai Railway Station to board your overnight train to Beijing. The driver will assist in obtaining your pre-purchased train tickets and guide you to the waiting area.

Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Hutong, and Temple of Heaven (L)

Temple of Heaven - Upon arrival, a friendly local guide and driver will greet you at Beijing Railway Station and take you to your first destination, the Temple of Heaven, the largest religious structure in China. Originally used by the Ming and Qing emperors for ceremonies to honor heaven and pray for bountiful harvests, it is now a place where locals practice Tai Chi, sing, and dance.

Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - After enjoying a delicious local lunch, proceed to Tiananmen Square, located in the heart of Beijing. Covering 108.7 acres, it stretches 880 meters from north to south and 500 meters from east to west, accommodating up to half a million people.

Forbidden City-The Palace Museum - Next, visit the Forbidden City, the best-preserved imperial palace in China, featuring 9,999.5 rooms. The magnificent architecture of the Forbidden City showcases the pinnacle of traditional Chinese architectural achievement. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Beijing (arrangements to be made independently).

Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace (L)

Mutianyu Great Wall - Meet your guide and driver in your hotel lobby in the morning, and travel approximately 1.5 hours to the Mutianyu Great Wall, renowned for its stunning scenery, fewer tourists, and beautifully restored architecture. You can choose to take a cable car up and down or a chair lift up and toboggan down. Spend 2-3 hours exploring the Wall.

Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - After a local dumpling lunch, continue to the Summer Palace. Spend the afternoon at this well-preserved royal garden, recognized as a World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most classical gardens. Conclude the day with a transfer back to your hotel in downtown Beijing (arrangements to be made independently). If you opt to end the tour in Shanghai, you will be taken to Beijing Railway Station to catch your overnight train back to Shanghai around 8:00 p.m. Your driver will meet you at Shanghai Railway Station with a sign displaying your full name and transfer you back to your hotel in Shanghai.
