- Chen Dacheng - Visit two traditional, time-honored restaurants. The first stop is an egg pancake and rice sweets eatery, established in 1875. Enjoy the soft, chewy glutinous rice sweets from a cherished restaurant that has been a fixture on Nanjing Road for over a century. With a perfect mix of sweet red bean and nutty sesame fillings, each bite offers a delightful flavor combination. Don’t miss their freshly made Chinese pancake, served with a cup of soy milk. (This is only for the breakfast tour)
The second stop is a soup dumplings restaurant, a brand since 1986. Gently bite into a soup dumpling, and the savory crab roe juice bursts in your mouth. Savor the delicious soup-based little wontons, another Shanghai classic.
- Tianjin Road - (Only dinner tour) Stewed milk dessert, a 19th-century southern Chinese delicacy, is now a national favorite, celebrated for its rich, creamy aroma and unique texture. For fruit enthusiasts, there is a mango-themed dessert to enjoy!
- People’s Square - Wander through People’s Square to soak in the city’s vibrant energy and digest your meal. Experience the lively People’s Park, where the weekend marriage market brings parents together to arrange matches for their children. Also, admire the tallest skyscraper in Shanghai for over half a century and step inside the most luxurious cinema in the Far East from the early 19th century.
- Dahuchun - Shengjian is one of Shanghai’s most iconic breakfast items, featuring a perfectly crispy skin that crunches with every bite. It pairs wonderfully with a comforting bowl of glass noodle soup. Hear the rivalry tales of two styles of pan-fried buns, akin to the debate between NY-style pizza and Chicago deep dish!
- Chenji Cake Shop - (Only breakfast tour) Scallion pancakes, freshly made to order, are prepared by frying green onions in oil to infuse their aroma into the dough. The pancake boasts a layered texture that is crisp, fragrant, and deeply satisfying!
- Xinghualou Food Catering Company Limited - (Only breakfast tour) Stewed milk dessert, a 19th-century southern Chinese treat, is now a national favorite, loved for its rich, creamy aroma and unique texture. For fruit lovers, there is a mango-themed dessert to choose from!
- 255 Shan Dong Zhong Lu - (Only dinner tour) Relish tender pork belly, its lean and fatty layers melting in your mouth. Paired with Shanghai-style rice steamed with ham and vegetables, a local favorite. This comforting combination captures the essence of Shanghai cuisine - the magical use of soy sauce and sugar.
