- Zhujiajiao Ancient Town - The tour guide will meet the group at the hotel at 09:00 a.m. From there, the group will head to Zhujiajiao to begin the highlight tour. Known as the ‘Venice of Shanghai,’ Zhujiajiao is the best-preserved among the four ancient water towns in the Shanghai region. With a history spanning over 1,700 years, Zhujiajiao is adorned with charming canals, narrow alleys, scenic bridges, and historic buildings, many dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Exploring Zhujiajiao is best done on foot and by boat. The group will enjoy a leisurely boat tour through 1,700 years of history in this enchanting water town. Visits will include landmarks such as Kezhi Garden, the Qing-period post office, the City God Temple, and Yuanjin Temple. The Zhujiajiao post office is the oldest in eastern China and the only well-preserved Qing dynasty post office in the region.
At noon, the group will savor local specialties for lunch. Afterward, they will transfer to downtown Shanghai to visit several iconic attractions.
-
Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan) - The group will proceed to People’s Square to visit the Shanghai Museum and delve into the rich history and culture of Shanghai.
Located in the heart of Shanghai at People’s Square, the Shanghai Museum is a large museum dedicated to ancient Chinese art. Its design and presentation immerse visitors in artifacts that reflect ancient wisdom and philosophy. The round dome and square base of the building symbolize the ancient concept of a round heaven and a square earth.
The museum features eleven galleries and three exhibition halls. The galleries cover major categories of Chinese art: Ancient Bronze, Ancient Ceramics, Paintings, Calligraphy, Ancient Sculpture, Ancient Jade, Coins, Ming and Qing Furniture, Seals, and Minority Nationalities.
The group will also explore scenic spots around People’s Square, such as the new Municipal Government Mansion and Shanghai Grand Theater. -
Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road) - As Shanghai’s premier shopping street, Nanjing Road (Nanjing Lu) offers a range of businesses from small shops and stalls to large department stores and malls. It is the world’s longest shopping district, stretching 3.4 miles (5.5 kilometers) from the Bund to Jing’an Temple.
Nanjing Road is divided into Nanjing Road East, featuring a popular pedestrian strip and historical buildings, and Nanjing Road West, which boasts more modern structures. Visitors can find a variety of local products such as silk, paintings, calligraphy, handicrafts, and souvenirs.
The group will then transfer to Pudong New Area to admire some of the world’s tallest skyscrapers, including the Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower, and Jin Mao Tower.
-
Pudong New Area - As a vibrant and bustling district, Pudong offers visitors modern attractions, businesses, skyscrapers, and shopping malls, all showcasing the latest in entertainment, technology, and fashion. The group will walk along Lujiazui Ring Bridge, an excellent spot for photographing skyscrapers.
-
Shanghai World Financial Center - Located in the heart of Lujiazui in Pudong and adjacent to Shanghai Tower and Jin Mao Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC) is currently the second tallest skyscraper in the city. Its exterior resembles a bottle opener, which is also its nickname.
For tourists, it is a popular attraction featuring sightseeing observatories and the Park Hyatt Hotel. Three observation decks offer unique experiences on the 94th, 97th, and 100th floors. The 100th floor is the highest observatory in the world, with transparent glass-walled walkways. Visitors can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Shanghai, and if the weather permits, witness a stunning sunset.
Afterward, the group will enjoy a comfortable transfer back to the hotel, wrapping up their memories and bidding farewell at the hotel.
