• Beijing Capital International Airport - An English-speaking private driver will greet travelers at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK). The meeting point is at Starbucks, conveniently located near the arrival gate (Exit B). For first-time layovers, expect approximately 1.5 hours to clear immigration. The driver will hold a sign with the traveler’s name at the meeting point. If the sign is not visible, travelers can visit the Information Center nearby for assistance, a complimentary service.
• Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - Once the driver meets the traveler, they will be guided to a private car, a process that takes about 5 minutes. The journey to Tiananmen Square will take approximately 1 hour. As the largest square in the world, it is located in the heart of modern China and is known for its historical parades and rallies. In 1949, Chairman Mao proclaimed the establishment of the People’s Republic of China from the Gate of Heavenly Peace. A private guide will accompany travelers through Tiananmen Square to the Forbidden City, sharing historical insights.
• Forbidden City-The Palace Museum - After exploring Tiananmen Square, the tour continues to the Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum or Gu Gong in Chinese. Situated in the center of Beijing, it served as the imperial palace for 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368 - 1911). Construction began during Emperor Chengzu’s reign in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and took 14 years. Ancient Chinese astronomers believed the Purple Star (Polaris) was the center of heaven, where the Heavenly Emperor resided in the Purple Palace. The emperor’s earthly palace was called the Purple City, and entry was restricted without the emperor’s permission, hence the name ‘The Purple Forbidden City,’ commonly known as ‘The Forbidden City.’
• Jingshan Park (Jingshan Gongyuan) - After an in-depth exploration of the Forbidden City, if time and energy permit, travelers can exit to the north and ascend Jingshan Park, offering the best panoramic view of the Forbidden City. Prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking scenery.
• Mutianyu Great Wall - Before reaching the Great Wall, travelers may wish to have lunch, and the driver can recommend restaurants based on preferences. The drive from the city to the Great Wall at Mutianyu takes over 1.5 hours. Known for its well-preserved state and stunning views, the Mutianyu section is less crowded, making it an ideal destination for a relaxed Great Wall tour. Travelers can choose between a round-trip cable car or a chairlift up and toboggan down (not included).
• Beijing Capital International Airport - After visiting the Great Wall, travelers will be transferred back to the airport.
