• Quilotoa Lake - Day 1: The journey begins with a drive from Quito along the Avenue of the Andean Volcanoes, heading south towards Cotopaxi National Park. Upon arrival at the park, a visit to a natural museum will provide insights into the nature, geology, history, and eruptions of the Cotopaxi volcano (5897m). The next destination is Limpiopungo Lake (3800m), where an acclimatization walk offers the opportunity to observe a variety of birds, including ducks, eagles, and Andean gulls. Following this, the drive continues to a parking area (4600m), where, on clear days, the Andean landscape offers breathtaking views. If conditions permit, there is an option to hike for 45 minutes to the José Ribas refuge (4800m), where a delightful hot chocolate awaits. In the afternoon, the journey proceeds to the Quilotoa loop, located 1 1/2 hours away.
