Historically, Pidurangala Temple was dedicated to Buddhist monks. The ascent to Pidurangala Rock is more challenging than that of Sigiriya.

After breakfast, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Sigiriya or Dambulla and taken to Pidurangala in Sigiriya before sunrise. Upon reaching the summit, they will enjoy a spectacular view of Sigiriya and the sunrise, which, although not directly over Sigiriya Rock, beautifully illuminates the valley. Following lunch, the journey continues to Hiriwadunna, a village where nature thrives. Here, guests can enjoy a trek along natural trails, a catamaran boat trip, and a bullock cart ride, with views of Sigiriya in the distance. Upon arrival at the shore, guests will be welcomed into a local villager’s home for an authentic Sri Lankan lunch made from freshly grown ingredients. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to climb a tree house used as a lookout. At the end of the day, guests will be returned to their hotel.
