Polonnaruwa - Dambulla
Polonnaruwa - Begin the day with a visit to the historical site of Polonnaruwa, where you can explore iconic attractions of Sri Lanka’s second most ancient kingdom, including the Parakrama Samudra irrigation system and the statue of King Parakramabahu. Discover the royal palace, the remains of the Kumara Pokuna marble pond, and more.
Minneriya National Park - After lunch, head to Minneriya National Park for a thrilling three-hour jeep safari in a 4x4. Witness large herds of wild elephants in their natural habitat.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - After the Botanical Garden, proceed to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Check into your hostel afterward.
Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
Nuwara Eliya - Travel to Nuwara Eliya via Ramboda Pass, enjoying the stunning scenery at 6,128 ft. above sea level. Visit the Ramboda waterfall (329 ft) and then continue to the Tea Factory.
Afterward, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, known as the “city on the plain” or “city of light.” This town in Sri Lanka’s central highlands boasts a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. Situated at an altitude of 1,868 m, it is a key location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The town is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. Explore the city before heading to your hostel in Nuwara Eliya.
Nuwara Eliya - Ella
Ella - After breakfast, depart for the Nanu Oya rail station to take the train to Ella. Ella is a charming, tranquil town on the southern edge of Sri Lanka’s Hill Country, surrounded by beautiful countryside, with vegetable plots in the valleys, tea plantations on the hills, and forests on the peaks. Enjoy the scenic views of the hill country.
Nine Arches Bridge - Visit the Nine Arch Bridge in Ella, located on the Demodara loop. Spanning 91 meters at a height of 24m, the bridge’s nine arches create a picturesque setting amidst dense jungle and agricultural land. Behind the railway, a forest thrives, and below, tea leaves are cultivated. Stay overnight in an Ella hostel.
Ella - Mirissa
Rawana Falls - After breakfast, drive to the Ella waterfalls, a popular attraction in Sri Lanka. It ranks as one of the country’s widest falls, measuring approximately 25 m (82 ft) high and cascading from an oval-shaped concave rock outcrop. After visiting the waterfalls, continue to Mirissa.
Mirissa Beach - Head to your hotel in Mirissa for a relaxing overnight stay at a Mirissa hostel.
Mirissa
Whale Watching Mirissa with Geeth - Early in the morning, around 5 am, depart from the hostel. Board the Whale Safari boat at Mirissa harbor at 6:00 AM for a whale-watching tour lasting approximately four hours (depending on whale sightings and passenger preferences).
Upon returning to shore, the driver will guide you to a beach restaurant for a delicious lunch. Afterward, enjoy a stroll along the beach.
Mirissa - Galle
Galle Fort - After breakfast, proceed to Galle, a prime example of a fortified city built by Europeans in South and Southeast Asia, showcasing the blend of European architectural styles and South Asian traditions. The Galle Fort is a World Heritage Site and the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European colonizers. Upon arrival in Galle, visit the Dutch fort, the Galle Museum, an old Dutch church, and the British church.
Hikkaduwa Beach - After exploring Galle, visit the traditional stick fishermen who fish while perched on sticks. Then, continue to Hikkaduwa, a small town on Sri Lanka’s south coast. Enjoy a glass-bottom boat ride to view the corals or go snorkeling if desired. Afterward, proceed to the Galle hostel.
Galle - Colombo
Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - After breakfast, head to Colombo. En route, visit the Madu River in Balapitiya for a boat ride. This one-hour tour takes you on a safari through the mangrove marshes of the Madu River. Navigate the dark caverns formed by thick mangrove forests, interspersed with bright open stretches of water. Learn about mangroves and their ecological benefits. Spot crocodiles, water snakes, tree snakes, and wild boars in their natural habitat. Observe cormorants, storks, and other avian life hunting for prey in the swift flow of the Madu River. View prawn and shrimp pots in the shallower areas of the river. Visit an old Buddhist temple on one of the river’s islands. Stop by another island, the source of Sri Lanka’s cinnamon industry, and purchase fresh, high-quality cinnamon as a souvenir. Don’t miss the outdoor fish massage parlor, where you can dip your feet into a fenced part of the river for a fish massage therapy session (ticket required).
Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project - Visit a turtle hatchery in Kosgoda, where endangered turtles are bred and cared for. Visitors can see newborn turtles and participate in releasing them into the sea.
