MUST DO WHILE VISITING LISBON - The trip to Cascais/Sintra with Luis was amazing; he's an incredibly professional yet warm person.
He shared all the history of the places as we visited them, answered all our questions, and on top of that, he has a great sense of humor.
Without a doubt, we’ll be recommending him to everyone visiting Lisbon!

Andre was fantastic. He... - Andre was fantastic. He has expansive knowledge on the culture and history of Portugal. This tour was the day after we landed in Portugal and a wonderful way to kick off our vacation.

Great tour guide - The trip was exactly as per the itinerary and our tour guide, Carlos, was friendly, caring and very knowledgeable. Our tour bus comprised of us (three English, two Americans, a Canadian and two Argentinians) - Carlos’s effortless ability to switch between English, Spanish and Portuguese was excellent - puts us Brits to shame.
A couple of things to bear in mind. Sintra, as beautiful as it is is a nightmare for traffic due to the number of (rude) foreign visitors and Pena Palace is lovely but currently has scaffold up and does need a lick of paint so it looks like all the Postcard photos.
Final thought - it can be windy and much cooler at Pena (about 20’F cooler than Lisbon), so you may want to take a jumper/jacket if you’re there outside of the main summer heat.

5 star tour, 3 star guide/driver - We really enjoyed Sintra and the Pena Palace on Monday April 21, 2025 (in spite of the rain!) but my favorite was Cascais! Cascais is too cute and less crowded more picturesque than Sintra, also flat so easy to walk and enjoy the harbor and the shops.
Luis was our driver. Had a slight issue with him not enforcing the seat rotation when requested, this is 1st reason for 3 star rating. He lied and told me the couple sitting in the front refused to trade seats when that was not true and he told me first come first served and that's how it goes. After 5 hrs of sitting cramped (not enf leg space in the last row) and stomach feeling queasy from the winding road I politely asked the couple in the front if they could trade places and they were willing to oblige and told me I should have said something sooner! I told them I did but the driver said no can't be done. Anyway finally got to enjoy the return from Pena Palace to Lisbon.
The 2nd reason for 3 stars is that Viator's website said to buy tickets to Pena Palace for 9:30am entrance when that was incorrect, we didn't even get to Pena Palace till 1pm or later. Viator needs to update this information on the website, actually no need to pre-purhase palace tickets as the driver took us to the window and bought them for us, easy peasy.
Overall a fun day and the sites are pretty and worth visiting. Just hope you have a fun driver willing to give everyone equal chance of sitting in the front or middle seat if they ask to be rotated.

Small car and air conditioning off! - Unpleasant experience with the guide Carla/Karla, the route is beautiful, but I suggest other tourists to look for another company that does the tour. I felt going for military enlistment not for a tourist tour. Small car to accommodate with comfort the 8 people (5 were fat and unfortunately need to suit the current needs of the population), to turn on the air conditioning we had to ask (because the guide was only with her window open, the passengers who were in the last benches were mainly the ones who suffered the most from the heat.

Uncomfortable - The tour officially began at 9 am but with little notice told to be ready to go at 8 -ok. But this was not to get a head start but instead we spent a full hour to pick up other passengers in a van -packed full to the gills - my husband got nauseous driving around Lisbon in stop and go rush hour traffic, picking up people in a van filled to capacity. We actually bailed as he felt motion sick - and did not want to waste two hours picking up/ dropping off people on the back end. Our guide seemed nice and seemed knowledgeable but this did not meet our expectations. Pushing the commute and collect time onto us versus having people gather was unacceptable — was going to make the day rough and did not meet the representations made. Also 9 people packed three to a row was too crowded and uncomfortable . We are usually happy users of your service and were a bit disappointed and surprised . Not up to your standards
