Beautiful castle and grounds and fantastic guide. - Unfortunately we visited Sintra on a very rainy, cold day. However, we had a lovely time with our guide, Rui, of Jump in Tours. We were the only two on the tour so could ask lots of questions. He was extremely friendly, helpful, and kind. The castle grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the outside of the castle is definitely worth seeing. You cannot see much inside. Getting there requires quite a hike. We also saw the coastal resort town of Cascais and had a wonderful lunch there. If you go, ask Jump in Tours for Rui. He was truly wonderful.

Incredible tour guide and great day - I cannot say enough good things about our tour guide and our day. 10/10. He’s the absolute best in the business. Definitely message the tour company WELL ahead of the day so you buy the right tickets at the right time. We didn’t but they still adapted so well. It would be easier if you follow their instructions though. Finally, they could secure a baby seat for car which was amazing.

The absolute best way to spend a day in Sintra - Worth Every Penny and More - Booking a private tour feels risky because it is. What if you and your guide don't vibe, and you're stuck together for the entire day? But after researching all there is to do in Sintra (and the complicated transportation options between attractions), my partner and I opted to put our trust in Jump In Tours and hope for the best on our bespoke tour to Sintra. Our tour guide Joao made the best of a tricky situation - Lisbon had a storm a few days prior to our arrival which meant that certain attractions in Sintra were still closed. Though we weren't able to see the Moorish Castle like we'd hoped, Joao made the most of our day in Sintra (and neighboring scenic spots), giving us the rich history of Sintra from the perspective of someone who has family roots there. Though this wasn't a food tour, we loved that Joao recommended food spots along our tour, and suggested sights and bites that we wouldn't have tried or seen otherwise. We kicked things off with Sintra's signature "pillow" pastry. The original location of this bakery was packed, but Joao knew their second location would be opening shortly and sent us in that direction to be one of the first when the doors opened. He then recommended we take a tour of the National Palace of Sintra, something that hadn't even been on our radar honestly but was so cool to see. Joao made sure we had no problem getting tickets, which was a theme throughout our Sintra tour. On our next stop to Quinta da Regaleira, we encountered a long line that we would've waited on (despite our time slotted ticket), but Joao knew better. The line we saw was actually for the time slot after ours, which he confirmed with the ticket taker at the front of the line. Joao shared the history of the Quinta da Regaleira, telling us all about the eccentric guy who had owned it, which helped us see it through a more accurate and rich historic lens. He was exceptional at providing us with guidance and backstory, along with free time for us to explore on our own throughout the day. He booked us a lunch reservation at an incredible seafood restaurant on the water (near "Portugal's Malibu,"), took us to scenic outlooks along the way and gave us free time in Cascais as an added bonus, where he recommended a delicious ice cream spot. We ended the day with oysters out of a truck in Belem (I know, sounds risky, but if you love oysters please do yourself a favor and stop at Ostras Sobre Rodas). TL;DR - If you're thinking about booking a day tour to Sintra, this is the only tour you should consider.

Great day! - Our tour guide Joao was great! He had so much information about local history and had a wealth of knowledge. He made us all feel comfortable and was very responsive to any requests we made. He had lots of personal experiences to share as he grew up in this area and his English was excellent! At the end of the tour Joao was thoughtful enough to stop at a beautiful park and give us each a piece of Portuguese pastry known as a “pillow”. It was delicious! Then to top off our day together, he dropped us off at our hotels because there was a large parade going on at the predetermined drop off point. Joao was a terrific guide for the day and we highly recommend him!

Amazing day in Sintra with Antonio - Antonio was amazing as a tour guide. So knowledgeable of the history of the area and knew all the great photo spots (and was great with the camera). The trip is so worth it to see the beauty and history of Sintra and the coastline of Cascais, and Antonio only made it better as he’s very flexible and willing to customize the trip for our desires. Lunch was a beautiful outdoor spot overlooking the ocean.
