- Castle of the Moors - With a privileged view over the Atlantic Coast, the plains, and the Sintra Mountains, the ancient Castle of the Moors, founded by Muslims, held a crucial strategic position in defending the local territory and maritime access to Lisbon. The Moors resided there until 1147, when Sintra was handed over to King Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal, following the conquests of Lisbon and Santarém. The guide will also provide historical context about the castle. Entry Not Included.
- Quinta da Regaleira - In the 19th century, Sintra was one of the first cradles of romantic architecture in Europe. Its unique climate and resulting nature attracted those who, inspired by the landscape, dared to enhance it with stunning architecture in an idyllic harmony conducive to the contemplation of Beauty and the Sublime.
In this picturesque setting, just outside Sintra’s historic center, lies Quinta da Regaleira. Conceived and built in the late 1800s, it reflects the cultural, philosophical, and scientific interests of its owner, António Augusto de Carvalho Monteiro (1848-1920), combined with the virtuosity of Italian architect-scenographer Luigi Manini (1848-1936). From the culture and creativity of these two figures emerged an eclectic-revivalist architectural ensemble, with a particular focus on Manueline, Renaissance, Medieval, and Classical styles. The guide will also discuss the history of this palace. Entry Not Included.
- Park and Palace of Monserrate - Visit the Palace of Monserrate, or stop at a viewpoint for panoramic photos. Entry not included.
- Azenhas do Mar Beach - Visit perhaps the most beautiful beach in Sintra, very similar to Santorini in Greece due to the white houses on the hillside.
- Cabo da Roca - Visit Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent, where the land ends and the sea begins.
- Boca do Inferno - A stunning visit over the ocean, where the sunset is most beautiful, characterized by its large crevice and local fishermen.
- Cascais - A Portuguese fishing village, famous for its beautiful beaches, fresh fish and seafood restaurants, vibrant nightlife, bars, hotels, and also known for its modern marina of international renown. Final stop of our tour.
