- Quinta da Regaleira - Quinta da Regaleira stands as one of the most remarkable landmarks in the Serra de Sintra. Located at the edge of the village’s historic center, it was constructed between 1904 and 1910, during the final years of the monarchy. Originally owned by the Viscountess of Regaleira, the romantic estate was purchased and expanded by Dr. António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro (1848-1920) to create his ideal retreat. The palace, chapel, and other structures were artistically designed within an Edenic garden, highlighting the neo-Manueline and Renaissance styles. The garden, symbolizing the microcosm, unfolds through a series of enchanting and mysterious spots. Paradise is depicted alongside an inferius - a Dantesque subterranean realm - where the neophyte is guided by Ariadne’s thread of initiation.
- Centro Historico de Sintra - Sintra’s historic center is an open-air museum brimming with magnificent treasures. Nestled at the base of the Sintra Mountains, the village of Sintra served as a royal sanctuary for many years. Amidst its lush vegetation lie stunning castles, palaces, gardens, and farms. Sintra, with its majestic hills adorned with palaces, churches, and manor estates, stretches in verdant waves to the ocean, and the allure of Vila Velha’s urban clusters makes it a place of exceptional beauty and cultural and natural significance. In 1995, it was designated a World Heritage Site in the Cultural Landscape category by UNESCO.

Ericeira - Ericeira, a traditional fishing village, experienced significant growth in the 20th century due to its rising popularity as a summer destination. Despite this development, it has retained its original charm and unique atmosphere. Located 50 kilometers from Lisbon, in an easily accessible area, its beaches are bustling during the summer and are considered among the best in Europe for surfing. Ribeira d`Ilhas Beach, which hosts one of the World Surfing Championship events annually, deserves special mention. Visiting Ericeira also offers a fantastic opportunity to savor the regional cuisine, particularly the shellfish and fresh fish dishes.
- Palacio Nacional de Mafra - The National Palace of Mafra was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019. The Royal Palace occupies the noble floor of the Mafra building and its two turrets. The north turret was the king’s residence, while the south turret housed the queen, both connected by a 232-meter gallery, making it Europe’s longest palatial corridor. This 40,000 m2 building once housed a Franciscan convent (300 friars) and includes Campo Santo, the Infirmary, the Elliptical Hall (capitular), the Literary Acts Hall, the Stairway, and the Dining Hall. It features a grand library, considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The Royal Building boasts two carillons with 98 bells, the largest of its era. The Basilica’s six organs are unique heritage pieces worldwide. The Royal Convent and Palace of Mafra is Portugal’s most significant baroque monument, covering nearly four hectares (37,790 m2), with 1,200 rooms, over 4,700 doors and windows, 156 stairways, and 29 inner yards and courtyards. Such grandeur was made possible by the influx of Brazilian gold, enabling the King to support the arts and reinforce royal authority.
- Aldeia Museu Jose Franco - The José Franco Village Museum, also known as Saloia Village, Cork Oak Typical Village, or José Franco Typical Village, is one of the country’s most renowned musealized villages. To understand its story, one must go back to 1920, the birth year of potter José Franco. The son of a shoemaker and a cookware saleswoman (who also sold at fairs during slow business periods), José Franco was immersed in the pottery trade from a young age. The Cork Oak was a significant pottery center at the time, and it was common for locals to learn the craft and make a living from it. Franco learned the trade from two local pottery masters before starting his own business at age 17. In the early 1960s, José Franco began realizing his dream of recreating a village with ethnographic character, reflecting the local way of life. It was his tribute to his homeland.
