The tour begins at the Skaftafell booking center, located 327 km (203 miles) from Reykjavík. The closest towns to Skaftafell are Kirkjubæjarklaustur, 69 km to the west, and Höfn, 130 km to the east. From the booking center, participants board a 4x4 bus that transports them to the glacier’s base.
