Embark on an exhilarating hiking and ice caving journey at the Vatnajökull Glacier in Skaftafell National Park! Upon arrival, participants will be greeted by a skilled glacier guide who will lead them to the breathtaking ice caves of Vatnajökull Glacier and share fascinating insights about the region. This tour features bus transportation to the glacier’s edge and a hike covering approximately 4.5 km. Participants will be equipped with specialized glacier crampons for ice walking, along with helmets and ice axes. Sturdy hiking boots are essential for this adventure. Waterproof clothing and hiking boots can be rented for a nominal fee.
- Operates in cold weather conditions, please dress appropriately
- Minimum age is 8 years old and minimum shoe size is 35 EU
- We provide all safety gear. Please note that our specialized glacier crampons are only available for shoe sizes 35-50 EU. Those with a shoe size beyond these are unfortunately unable to participate.
- Hiking boots with ankle support are mandatory for this adventure (rentals available for a fee)
- This tour is rated as easy, but guests should be prepared to hike ~3km over uneven terrain.
