Ancient Theatre of Ohrid - This Hellenistic period theatre, built in 200 BC, is located in Ohrid, North Macedonia. It is the only theatre of its kind in the country, as the others in Scupi, Stobi, and Heraklea Lynkestis are from Roman times.
Plaoshnik - An archaeological site located just above Ohrid, Plaoshnik features a church built by St. Clement in 893 on the site of an early Christian basilica, dedicated to St. Panteleimon. It was here that the Ohrid Literary School was established, a hub of Slavonic literary and cultural activity where over 3,500 students were educated. St. Clement was interred in this church.
Saint Sophia - This cathedral, dedicated to Holy Wisdom, was constructed on the foundations of an early Christian basilica. Renovated and adorned with frescoes during Archbishop Leo’s time between 1037 and 1056, it served as the seat of the Ohrid Archbishopric for centuries, with ecclesiastical authority extending from the Danube to the Albanian coast and the Bay of Thessalonica.
National Ohrid Museum - Robevci House - Located next to the handmade paper workshop in Ohrid’s old town, the National Ohrid Museum showcases the Robev family’s history through original items and exceptional woodcarving. In 2014, the renowned Golden Room was opened, featuring valuable antiques, including the Golden Mask from the 5th century BC, along with other gold, silver, and gilded items discovered in Ohrid and the archaeological sites of Trebenishte and Deboj.
