- Samoil’s Fortress - Known as “Samuilova tvrdina,” Ohrid Fortress was originally constructed by Philip II of Macedon. In the late 900s, Macedonian King Samuil transformed it into a medieval stronghold, which remains intact today.
- St. Jovan Kaneo - Saint John at Kaneo is a Macedonian Orthodox church perched on a cliff above Kaneo Beach, overlooking Lake Ohrid in the city of Ohrid, North Macedonia. The church is dedicated to John of Patmos, the author of Revelation, who is sometimes identified with John the Apostle. While the exact construction date is unknown, documents about the church’s property suggest it was built before 1447. Archaeologists believe it was likely constructed in the 13th century, prior to the rise of the Ottoman Empire. Restoration efforts in 1964 uncovered frescoes in its dome.
