Batik painting experience by Alga Lova Tour - Amazing hospitality by the hosts and team! Got to experience and learn about the process of batik. The host venue had beautiful works of batik all around and it'll definitely make you appreciate the hard work the craftsmen put into their work. The workshop was led by Salwa and Titik, both who were very encouraging and patient throughout the whole process. I'd highly recommend guests to have a hands-on experience! You don't have to be great at art to attend the workshop - feel free to go in blind with an open mind, the team will lead wonderfully.

Nice workshop with a local - This was a great afternoon activity! The workshop was given by a somewhat older woman who did not speak English, and supervised by a girl who translated everything. There were delicious homemade free snacks, and our wipes turned out beautiful. You will receive them immediately after the workshop.

Wonderful experience - When our driver dropped us off in this neighborhood location, that was surprise number 1. And then the whole process and the staff …. Excellent !! We enjoyed visiting the neighborhood temple while waiting for our work to dry. Our hosts offered ice cold water and snacks…. Very nice. We bumbled through the waxing and coloring … hard to believe the finished product was so nice !!! Strongly recommend everyone take this batik making class !!!

Super fun, would go again - I think this is a must do!! It took 3 hours as predicted and you can create your own design, or use one they make for you. The family that runs it is very sweet and speaks amazing English! Also very close to Prambanan Temple, easy day trip from central Yogyakarta.

Incredibly warm! - I can only recommend this course! Unlike other batik courses, you can use brushes to dye your cloth in different colors and not just apply the wax. Depending on how complex your own cloth is, you have to allow up to 4 hours in total.

Learning a new skill! - Very nice! I wanted to try the technique in Indonesia, i am a professional artist myself and we were explained in the gallery, nice authentic ambiance. It made us very calm and focussed. The guide talked in English. We had a good experience with coffee and laughs.

1000% would recommend - Very supportive and calming experience. Lets you truly understand the skill of Batik. Takes about 3hrs and you leave with your own Batik artwork.

Beautiful Batik - An interesting activity to try if you enjoy culture and art. Like any other work, you appreciate it better when you see what happens behind the scene. Time flew by and before you know it, you have created a 'masterpiece'. A highly recommended activity.

Exception hands-on intro to hand-painted batik making - The boutique making workshop was outstanding. It walked me through each stage of the process with high-quality instruction, support, and detail. You can draw your own design or work from one that has been prepared for your selection. The instructor and assistant (who speaks English very well) or warm, encouraging, and detail oriented. They will provide the level of supervision and support that you need during the whole process. In addition to (beginning to) learn this culturally, important, technical craft within a UNESCO -recognized community for Batik, you will have the opportunity to look at many different, locally handmade batiks, available for purchase. The quality of the instruction was absolutely excellent, and everyone was warm and enthusiastic. I could not have been more pleased with this process, and it was a perfect counterpoint to a physically intense day at the temples. In addition, I was provided with super tasty homemade snacks and coffee along with other drinks. Make sure you have a reliable driver because the workshop is located in a neighborhood that’s known for Batik making. It is close to Pramanam Temple so you may want to combine these activities. It is roughly an hour from the airport, but traffic dependent. I’m absolutely thrilled with the quality of the workshop! If you are at all crafty, do it!

Great local Batik Workshop - We booked for a 3 hours Batik Workshop. We really enjoyed the experience a lot. The staff is very welcoming, with drinks and home made local snacks. We got a clear overview of the steps and in-depth support of developing our own piece of art. The atmosphere is relaxt and the activity’s is very Zen. The results is stunning. This is definitely a recommendation to plan in your visit.
