The Ramayana Ballet is a captivating and extraordinary performance that vividly brings the ancient Hindu epic to life through dance and music. This enchanting show is held in the open-air theater of Prambanan Temple. The performers, adorned in vibrant traditional costumes, move elegantly to the melodies of a live gamelan orchestra. The performance is further enhanced by breathtaking visual effects, including fireworks and lighting, which contribute to the magic of the event.
Prior to the performance, visitors will explore Prambanan Temple, the largest Hindu temple complex in the world, with a local guide who will provide detailed historical insights about the temple.
Guests will also enjoy a dinner featuring authentic traditional Indonesian cuisine, set against a romantic backdrop, enhancing the dining experience.
Note: The Ramayana Ballet is not available daily. It is scheduled for every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Please contact us to confirm availability. Outdoor performances are held during the dry season from May to October, while indoor shows are scheduled for the rest of the year.
- Special Note : Ramayana Ballet Show does not available everyday. Normally it will be held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Kindly please to contact us first to confirm the availability. The open air or outdoor show only available in dry season from Mei to October, the rest will be held indoor.
- If Rama Shinta is fully booked, the dinner will take place at Abhaya Giri Resto with coverage budget (IDR 175.000)
- During rainy season, the show will be held indoor, and the highest level of seat is Special Class Seat, VIP Seat is available in the open stage during dry season (October to March)

Magic - A wonderful experience. With VIP booking.
We were picked up at the hotel by 'Driver' Joko who assisted us at every stage.
Car comfortable, clean, , air conditioning.
At the temple Joko accompanied us to the entrance and entrusted to the guide Miko, a guide who also spoke Italian and very kind.
Beautiful visit made with calm and attention. At the exit we found Joko who accompanied us to the restaurant where we ate buffet with a view of Prambanan. Then Joko walked us from the table to the entrance of the theater next door. Fabulous show and in the break there was also a small buffet. In the end, it was also possible to take pictures with the actors. At the entrance we found Joko who took us back to the hotel.
Joko had a lot of attention and care for us. He drove well and carefully in traffic.
Experience highly recommended.

Absolutely Unforgettable! - I can’t say enough great things about this company and the guides they have. Faiq was incredible, he was so kind, timely, shared so many facts about the places we visited, and most of all made us feel safe and welcome. The Prambanan experience and the ballet is something I will never forget, in fact I’m getting teary eyed just writing this and thinking about how magical it was. Having a guide made everything so easy and stress free, it’s quite a drive out there from the city and quite a large complex, so it was so nice to have someone who knew exactly where to go and what to do. Huge time saver not having to figure it all out. I just couldn’t recommend it more. We never would have gotten as much out of it on our own, all the history and stories and specific parts of the temple that were shown to us were incredible; we would have missed so much without a guide. And the ballet is a must to end your evening, it takes the experience to a whole new level. Plus dinner overlooking the temple at night was just to die for. If I ever come back to Jogja I will absolutely use this company again, and hope that Faiq is still doing tours with them! Faiq even made sure to do little special things for us, like stopping to let us try some traditional Jogja cookies when he learned we hadn’t had any yet. So nice!
Side note: I’d just like to add that we did an additional tour with this company the next day, during which I fell ill unfortunately (chronic stuff, nothing to do with the area or food etc.) and Faiq, our guide, helped us out SO much. I quite literally don’t know what we would have done without him in that situation. He took us to a hospital for checkup, helped with all the language barriers there, helped us navigate the entire situation, waited for us to be done there, and even took us by a market afterwards to get some much needed recovery items. None of which he had to do, it was incredibly kind. Then he messaged me the next day to make sure I was doing okay. Faiq and this tour company went above and beyond in so many ways, I couldn’t be more grateful, but being there for us in a moment of desperation/vulnerability was just a whole other level. If you’re looking to book some tours around Jogja don’t hesitate to book with them, you will be so well taken care of. Thank you Faiq and Borobudur Sunrise! You’re all amazing!

A perfect experience from A to Z - absolutely recommended! - Eko our driver from Borobudur Sunrise was allways on time, drove us safe everywhere and explained extra details about Yogyakarta and Indonesia. He was extremly polite, friendly, grateful and interested. Made the experience a success from A to Z. Miko, our Guide at the Prambanan temple was unexpected experienced, told us not only many facts but also a lot of insider stories, his knowledge was stunning and he has worked all over the world allready. We learned so much with him! Amazing...

Amazing cultural experience in Yogya - So well organized by the entire team. It was a fantastic experience to see the temple with a proper guide to explain the history for us. And the ballet is truly incredible to watch after you’ve learned about the story from the temple carvings. If the weather is good then you’ll see an incredible fire show during the ballet too!

Well worth the trip. - An amazing and stress free way to visit from start to finish. Prambanan Temple is well worth a visit, so is the buffet dinner and Ramayana Ballet show. I booked this tour solo, and got VIP tickets for the ballet, so it was more expensive. But well worth the price. Faiq was my driver and he was great. Not just a driver, but a tour guide as well, very knowledgeable.

A place to remember. - Easy to book and secure payment. Through your booking and emails you receive you can find everything. You will be neatly informed in advance about who will pick you up. In our case, it was Eko. A good driver and told us about the city. At the Prambanan he arranged everything. It is a nice place to be, especially the view from the restaurant to the floodlit Prambanan is stunning. We made a nice memory.

An Experience You Have to See to Believe - If I could give 6 stars, I absolutely would! Unfortunately for those just reading this review, words can’t fully capture what they’ll miss out on if they don’t try it for themselves.
I was a bit skeptical at first, but we were warmly greeted by Mr. Wahyu — an incredibly professional tour guide. He organized our first trip flawlessly; everything was so well-timed and smooth that I honestly can't recall a single bad moment.
At Prambanan Temple, we were lucky to have Mr. Miko as our guide. He was like a walking Wikipedia — so informative and passionate. He even went above and beyond by helping us take amazing photos and offering helpful photography tips, even though it wasn't part of his job.
And the Ramayana Ballet? Absolutely spectacular — bravo to the performers!
If I had to suggest one area for improvement, it would be the buffet dinner, which could use a bit of an upgrade. But overall, the experience was truly unforgettable.

A beautiful experience - The ballet was exquisite—perfect dancing. Micco was erudite guide and I learned a great deal from his deep knowledge. Faisal was the best. He truly looked out for me, and he has the best laugh. Altogether, a memorable, enjoyable and educational experience. I highly recommend this tour.

Astonishing - Impressed by the genious craftmanship of our old ancestars. Very nice to find the Siwa legend carved so beautifully and imagenetive throughout the temple. So many details so easily overlooked if not with a tourguide
