You may not be aware, but a significant proportion, over 60%, of the world’s rose oil production happens in a handful of quaint valleys in Bulgaria, nestled amidst majestic mountain chains. This adventurous full-day journey will take you through magical landscapes of rose, lavender, and sunflower fields flanked by the dramatic apexes of the Balkan Mountain. A knowledgeable guide will take you through the intricacies of Bulgarian rose oil production at a prominent distillery. Afterward, you’ll get to explore the sophisticated Russian-styled Nativity church and if time permits, you’ll head to the Shipka peak that offers stunning panoramic views. You’ll also visit the historic Thracian tomb of Kazanluk (UNESCO), built in 4th century BC, which is part of the valley’s treasures. During the ride back, you’ll take a different route, offering a new set of landscapes to admire. Your English-speaking driver will also arrange a small pause in Koprvishtitsa, a petite town that beautifully exemplifies Bulgarian Renaissance architecture.
