Abydos - In the early morning, an operator will pick guests up from their hotel in Hurghada and transport them in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle to Abydos, one of the oldest cities in ancient Egypt and a significant archaeological site. Visitors will explore the Temple of Seti I, which features an inscription from the nineteenth dynasty known as the Abydos King List. Following this, guests will visit the Osiris Temple, where nine or ten temples were constructed from the first to the twenty-sixth dynasty on a single site. After lunch, the journey continues to the Dandara Temple, renowned for its impressive Ptolemaic temple dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of joy and love, which is among the best-preserved sanctuaries in Egypt. Built in the first century B.C. on the remains of older temples, the site also includes a small temple for Isis worship, a beautiful sacred lake surrounded by trees, a Coptic church, a Roman and Ptolemaic birth-house, and remnants of various Roman brick buildings and the ancient town. The day concludes with a drive to Luxor for dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
Luxor Temple - After breakfast, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Luxor by an Egyptologist tour guide to explore the East Bank of Luxor, beginning with a tour of the Karnak temple complex, a vast open-air museum and the second-largest ancient religious site in the world. Next, visitors will enjoy a panoramic view of Luxor Temple, constructed by Amenhotep III and Ramses II. Crossing the Nile River to the West Bank, the tour continues to the necropolis of the ancient city of Thebes. At the Valley of the Kings, the burial site of Thebes’ kings, guides are not allowed inside the tombs, but the guide will provide insights on what to observe in the intricately decorated rooms. An additional fee is required for those wishing to visit King Tutankhamun’s tomb. Leaving the Valley of the Kings, guests will visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most remarkable monuments. The guide will share the history of the temple and the story of Queen Hatshepsut, the renowned female ruler who assumed a male persona to ascend the throne. Before returning to Luxor for lunch, there will be a photo opportunity at the Colossi of Memnon, marking the site of Amenhotep III’s funerary temple. These two towering statues are the sole remnants of the ancient complex. After lunch, guests will return to their hotel in Hurghada, carrying cherished memories for years to come.
