Fantastic CANYONAUTEN experience with Guides: Vero and Carmen — Highly recommend! - Here is a summary of our experience canyoning on July 5, 2025, with Die Canyonauten and our two guides, Carmen and Veronika (Vero). We booked the trip through TripAdvisor, and within an hour, we had someone calling us in English on the phone, welcoming us to the tour and getting and giving important information before we arrived the next day. They sent an email with everything we need to know, including a PDF map of the parking situation and instructions. This was important, as we were driving from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is about 90 minutes away from Sonthofen and the Starzlachklamm. The tour we booked on TripAdvisor said 9:00 am. I planned to arrive 30 minutes early. As it turned out, the Company had the tour at 9:30 am. So, there was a disconnect between TripAdvisor and Spirits of Nature (Die Canyonauten). No big deal, as we were early and were able to get a good parking spot! Which brings me to my next point. Parking. There are two parking areas. The first is a short walk to the equipment trailer and trailhead, where you will meet your guides at the designated time. I opted to continue to the smaller second parking lot, as it was early. This allowed us to be close to the Canyonauten trailer and trailhead. Both parking lots have machines where you pay 6 Euros to get a daily ticket. Have coins. The second parking lot is small and may only hold 10-12 cars if they are parked tightly. Carmen and Vero arrived before their scheduled start time of 9:30 and checked the group in. We had 13 people in total in our group. They then began issuing us our equipment, which included neoprene socks, suits, canyon boots, helmets, and harnesses. They gave the entire group a safety briefing and had us all sign to confirm that we understood what we had heard. From there, we began our 15-20 minute hike through the woods up the path to the start of the gorge. Keep in mind, this is while you are wearing the whole wetsuit. We definitely peeled the top layer off. Once we arrived at the starting point for the trek through the gorge, we began as a group and were always briefed by our guides first, shown everything, then followed one guide and were trailed by the other. Carmen and Vero made the entire experience very fun and included everyone in the group. I was never worried about safety and felt very confident with both their expertise and professionalism. I won’t give away the different types of features and challenges you will face and go through. They are all very fun and worth the trip. The end feature concludes with a group photo, but the nice thing is that your guides take photos throughout the day, then send them to you via a link and email later, which I thought was a nice touch. You do need to know how to swim, should not have a fear of heights, and if you have any medical conditions, you will be asked to provide a doctor’s note allowing you to participate. The tour lasted from 9:30 am from equipment draw until 12:30 pm when we arrived back at the equipment trailer. We had some time to spend in a swimming hole in the gorge, where we were able to jump from a boulder several times. There were certain spots where hikers above could watch us below and see us going through the gorge or swimming. It was a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to challenge themselves a little bit and get out in nature and enjoy the gorge with some great guides. Thanks, Carmen, Vero, and Team Canyonauten!

Super girlfriends trip - We had an all-round successful day! There were five of us on the road (28-32 years) and despite different fitness levels and dizziness we all got our money's worth.

Memories for a lifetime. - This was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had. I went with my 18yo daughter but their were 15 of us in the group. The instructors spoke brilliant English and explained everything in both English and German. Everyone was so friendly. The hardest part was walking up the path to the start of the canyoning in a wetsuit. It’s about a 20min walk and I’m not the fittest. Some of the jumps/drops in to rock pools required some internal Pep talks but that was also part of the fun challenge. Will definitely do it again.

Wonderful! Appreciative!!! Best Experience - I cannot give enough stars for our first canyoning experience!!! We booked through TripAdvisor on Saturday night for seven people. The next day we could not find our meeting place, so I called the company. Paul answered the phone and said they did not have anything scheduled for the day. However, he said that he would find someone to take us. He even had us follow him to their main site. Upon arrival, Fabian was finishing his lunch and took us. This was b far the best experience we had. We could not thank both of them enough! Very accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. Many people would have said we are sorry. However, these two gentlemen were perfect! Many thanks to them!

Perfect organization and great guides - Everything was well organized. After checking sizes beforehand, everyone had the perfect suit. The equipment was well maintained and the guides were very competent and friendly. We were there with English-speaking friends - no problem for the guides - everything was also explained in English. I always felt safe and well looked after during the entire tour. The guides took photos during the tour and then put them online. A great service. A great nature experience - you should definitely do it...

Great family experience - As a family (49/47/17/14) we had a lovely, eventful tour. Not too easy but not too demanding either. Just right for everyone. And with the guides you always felt safe.
