- Parco Archeologico di Ercolano - Enjoy a bus transfer to Herculaneum and explore the ruins with our certified guide during a 1.5-hour archaeological tour. Herculaneum, once a refined Roman city, was buried under layers of ash and pumice following the devastating eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The site remains remarkably preserved, showcasing streets, houses, and villas that visitors can admire. Please note that the itinerary may change at the guide’s discretion.
- Casa dell’Albergo - Known as the House of the Hotel, this Roman-era residence was buried during the Vesuvius eruption in 79 and uncovered during the archaeological excavations of Herculaneum. Situated on the hill’s edge in a scenic location, it spans 2,150 square meters, making it the largest house discovered in Herculaneum so far. It is also the only one in the city with a spa district, initially leading to the belief it was a hotel.
- Sacellum of Augustali - Constructed near the forum while Emperor Augustus was still alive, this building features a quadrangular design and preserves stunning frescoes depicting Hercules entering Olympus with Jupiter, Juno, Minerva, and Hercules battling Achelous. The janitor’s skeleton was discovered in his room, lying on the bed.
- Casa dei Cervi - This opulent house with a sea-view terrace belonged to Q. Granius Verus, a freed slave shortly before Herculaneum’s destruction. The garden features two statues of deer being attacked by a pack of dogs, from which the house derives its name.
- Casa del Salone Nero - Named for its party hall painted entirely in black with geometric designs, this house contained wax tablets of L. Venidius Ennychus, believed to be the owner. The tablets discuss her eligibility for Augustale, the purchase of a slave, and the birth of a daughter.
- Casa dello Scheletro - Likely formed from the merging of three smaller buildings, this house’s name comes from the discovery of human remains in a second-floor room in 1831.
- Casa di Nettuno e Anfitrite - The glass paste mosaics, which were very costly at the time, are truly captivating, featuring floral and hunting scenes. Centrally located is the mosaic of Neptune and Amphitrite, the marine deity and his companion.
