- Cape Agulhas - Southernmost Tip of Africa - Departing from Cape Town around 07:30 AM, the journey heads southeast on the N2 via Sir Lowry’s Pass towards the Cape Overberg. Travelers will be treated to stunning views of dramatic landscapes, rugged mountain ranges, and gently rolling hills of wheat and canola fields resembling mid-ocean swells. A stop above Sir Lowry’s Pass offers a photo opportunity with breathtaking views of False Bay below.
The adventure continues through the lush green, gold, and brown citrus orchards of the Overberg, with a stop at a farm stall for refreshments. The journey proceeds through Caledon, the seventh oldest town in South Africa, known for its agricultural significance and iron-rich hot springs on the Swartberg slopes.
The tour leads to The Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, which has served as a maritime guardian over the infamous ‘Cape of Storms’ for over 150 years, at Africa’s southernmost point. This official meeting place of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans is also where the Mozambique and Benguela currents converge.
- Shipwreck Museum - The tour continues to the Shipwreck Museum in Bredasdorp. Since 1673, approximately 130 shipwrecks have occurred off the Southern Cape coast, known as the “Graveyard of the Ships.” The museum showcases the area’s rich history with a collection of shipwreck artifacts, including figureheads, lifeboats, porcelain, cannons, anchors, old bottles, and coins from various European countries.
- Struisbaai Beach - Visitors will also enjoy time at Struisbaai Beach, known for its warm, crystal-clear waters and tropical ambiance. This is also where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.
- Stony Point Penguin Colony - After an incredible experience at Africa’s southernmost tip, the return journey to Cape Town passes through Hermanus, famous for whale watching, and along the scenic Clarence Drive. If time permits, a visit to the endangered African penguins at Stony Point Nature Reserve is included.
