- Castle of Good Hope - This bastion fort in Cape Town was constructed in 1652 by the Dutch East India Company as a settlement and refreshment station for ships transporting spices to Europe and East Asia. It is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa. During the Second Boer War, the fort served as a prison, and the cells remain intact today. Visitors can explore the five bastions and discover the history and life within its walls.
- City Hall - Originally built by the Dutch in 1652 as their first fort, it was a site where slaves were sold, punished, and executed for treason. It is also where Nelson Mandela delivered his first speech as South Africa’s first black democratic president on May 10, 1994, after 27 years of imprisonment during apartheid. The parade ground is now a symbol of peace and freedom, hosting major celebrations and the State of the Nation Address.
