A must-see tour when visiting Port Elizabeth is the Addo Elephant National Park. This park is home to the ‘Big 5’ and boasts one of the highest concentrations of elephants in Africa. Addo provides an unparalleled biodiversity and a spectacular game viewing experience in a malaria-free setting. Spend half a day exploring South Africa’s third-largest national park with our knowledgeable guides! The original elephant section of the park was established in 1931, when only eleven elephants were left in the area. Today, this ecosystem hosts one of the densest elephant populations globally, with over 700 elephants, lions, buffalo, the endangered black rhino, spotted hyena, leopards, various antelope and zebra species, and the unique Addo flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. The park uniquely claims to be the only one in the world to conserve the “Big 7” – the Big 5, along with the southern right whale and great white shark off the coast.
