- Arches Visitor Center - The Visitor Center offers essentials like water, snacks, and restrooms. It’s a convenient spot to refill water bottles and grab snacks, as no other food is available in the park, and the only other water source is at Devils Garden.
- Moab Fault Overlook - At the Moab Fault viewpoint, witness the immense pressure that separated the viewpoint area from the cliff wall across the canyon.
- Park Avenue Trail - Visitors often compare the feeling of standing among Park Avenue’s rock formations to standing beside New York City’s skyscrapers.
- La Sal Mountains Viewpoint - Named “the salt” in Spanish, the La Sal Mountains were named in 1776 by Spanish explorers who thought the snowy peaks resembled salt piles. Mount Peale, the highest peak, rises over 12,000 feet (around 3,600 meters).
- Courthouse Towers - Discover massive sandstone formations here, including the Three Gossips, The Organ, and Sheep Rock.
- Petrified Dunes Viewpoint - This expansive landscape features lumpy rock formations that are actually petrified sand dunes, solidified into rock around 200 million years ago.
- Balanced Rock Trail - Balanced Rock towers over 120 feet, or 11 stories high. This impressive Hoodoo features a ball that seems perfectly balanced atop the spire.
- The Windows Road - This area showcases over 30 stunning arches, including The Windows, Turret Arch, and Double Arch, which appeared in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”
- Garden of Eden - The Garden of Eden is perfect for exploring. This open area is dotted with fins, windows, and small arches, some still forming. Watch your step for biocrust, and find Owl Rock near the parking lot.
- Pothole Arch - Unlike other arches, Pothole Arch is horizontal rather than vertical.
- Panorama Point - From this elevated spot, enjoy views for miles in multiple directions. To the north lies Devil’s Garden and the Fiery Furnace, while to the south is Elephant Butte, the park’s highest point at 5,600 feet.
- Delicate Arch - Perhaps the most famous arch in Arches National Park, Delicate Arch is featured on Utah’s state license plate. Though not the tallest, its iconic charm attracts visitors worldwide.
- Delicate Arch Viewpoint - If time or reservations prevent a three-mile hike to Delicate Arch, view it from two viewpoints. The lower viewpoint is a short 100-foot walk from the parking lot, while the upper viewpoint is about a half-mile round trip.
- Salt Valley Overlook - Once called the paradox formation, early geologists couldn’t explain Salt Valley’s creation. Thankfully, Shaka Guide provides clarity.
- Fiery Furnace - Named for the glowing rocks when the sun hits just right, Fiery Furnace offers a permit-only hike. Permits are limited and must be reserved online. The hike is challenging, so it’s not recommended on our tour, but reservations can be made if desired.
- Sand Dune Arch - A short walk leads to Sand Dune Arch, featuring a sand pit popular with children. A two-mile hike to Broken Arch and a rough road to Tower Arch are also available.
- Skyline Arch - This large arch frames the sky beautifully. No hiking is necessary, but a 10-minute walk brings you closer to the arch.
- Devils Garden - Explore the arches on a short, two-mile hike that’s well worth it. Picnic tables and restrooms are available for relaxation. The most renowned formation on the Devils Garden Trail is Landscape Arch, North America’s longest arch.
