- Canyonlands National Park - This breathtaking airplane tour over Canyonlands National Park’s northern district, Island in the Sky, showcases stunning landscapes. Towering 1000-foot cliffs rise above the Colorado and Green Rivers, which flank the area. Intricate drainage systems are etched into the land below. Upheaval Dome is visible at the northern end, while the Confluence of the two rivers marks the southernmost point. The tour continues to the Needles District, known for its vibrant and whimsical spires and cliffs, home to some of the most remote and renowned arches in canyon country. Angel Arch and Druid Arches are particularly famous, while Elephant Arch, Kirk Arch, Wedding Ring Arch, and Castle Arch are hidden gems in the backcountry. The area offers abundant photographic opportunities!
- Cataract Canyon - Cataract Canyon features 14 miles of rapids, with difficulty levels reaching up to Class V. This section of the Colorado River is notably challenging and remote, with significant water level variations.
- Glen Canyon Dam - Glen Canyon Dam is the second tallest concrete-arch dam in the U.S., surpassed only by the 726-foot Hoover Dam. Lake Powell, formed by Glen Canyon Dam, has a water storage capacity of 25.16 million acre-feet, acting as a water ‘bank account’ during droughts. This reserve has enabled cities, industries, and agriculture across the West to endure prolonged dry spells.
- Horseshoe Bend - Horseshoe Bend is a renowned and frequently visited site within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. As the river journeyed towards the sea, it meandered, forming wide bends while seeking the path of least resistance. Approximately 5 million years ago, the Colorado Plateau uplift trapped the meandering rivers in their beds. Over time, these rivers carved through the uplifted sandstone layers. At Horseshoe Bend, the Colorado River created a dramatic 1,000 ft deep, 270º horseshoe-shaped bend in Glen Canyon.
- Rainbow Bridge National Monument - Rainbow Bridge is among the world’s largest natural bridges, with a span of 275 feet and a height of 290 feet. At its top, it measures 42 feet (13 m) thick and 33 feet (10 m) wide.
