• Moab - Begin your adventure at Desert Highlights in the morning, with pick-up available upon request. Your guide will equip you with all the essential gear for canyoneering and rafting. The group will be driven to the canyon’s starting point, where you’ll hike across ancient sand dunes to reach the first rappel. Desert Highlights’ experienced and knowledgeable guides will “show you the ropes,” ensuring your safety and teaching you everything necessary to descend the canyon safely. After two thrilling rappels and a scenic hike out, the group will hop in the van and drive along the Colorado River. There will be an opportunity to enjoy lunch, discuss river safety, and select the best put-in based on the group’s abilities and goals for the afternoon. Soon, you’ll launch on the river, either navigating through rapids or enjoying a scenic flat-water float, depending on your preference.

Desert Highlights is the original canyoneering guide service in Moab. This canyoneering and packrafting tour follows a route established by Desert Highlights’ founder as a technical guided canyoneering path in the late 1990s. Participants will explore a section of the canyon that is typically not visited independently. With the assistance of ropes, technical equipment, a skilled guide, and a spirit of adventure, guests can access areas that are otherwise unreachable. Additionally, one-person inflatable boats, known as packrafts, will be used for a scenic float along the Colorado River. These boats are enjoyable, distinctive, and exclusive to Desert Highlights in Moab.

The Moab desert is our home, and we are enthusiastic about sharing it with others. During the guided tour, participants will safely descend a stunning, water-sculpted canyon and enjoy a picturesque section of the Colorado River. They will also gain insights into the area’s flora and fauna, geology, and history, which we are fortunate to have in our backyard.
