A magnificent experience - We showed up early on a cold March morning for our tour of Monument Valley. Our guide, Larry, was terrific. He had blankets to keep us warm as well as knowledge of where and how to take the best photos. Throughout our tour of the magnificent scenery, he added to our experience with Navajo lore, cinema history, and sightings of the various people and animals hidden in the rock formations. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Monument Valley is a special place… - Larry our driver, tour guide and all round 3 1/2 hour source of information was great. He had all the answers to our questions. Monument Valley is a special place… The View hotel is nice however the restaurant and museum to the west at Goulding’s Lodge is a wee bit nicer..

Family Fun - Sandrea provided an excellent overview of the monument. We all enjoyed her stories about family and friends living on the Nation. She was very knowledgeable about herbal use of local vegetation for medicinal and industrial use. Even though it was very windy and cold she was thoughtful enough to bring extra warm blankets for all of us.

Outstanding Tour - The tour was outstanding. Lots of stops at spectacular views. Backcountry part to the arches was well worth it—they were amazing. Our guide (Larry) was outstanding—he gave us much history—geological and Navajo. He is also an expert taking photos (of us with our phones and cameras).

Fantastic experience and guide - Our guide for the day was Travis. He was very knowledgeable, and gave us key points along our tour. We spent a long time in the outback areas where you cannot reach without a tour guide. He described history, as well as pointed out things to look at that you would not normally notice. He also shared his music with us. his flute and drum giving us a flavor of the rich Navajo culture. Very talented man.

A day full of astounding sights, building memories we'll come back to again and again - We took this amazing tour with Larry, and felt very fortunate that we did. I've wanted to see Monument Valley since I was a child watching John Ford Westerns. I grew up to teach film, with a special interest in how Hollywood depicted Indigenous people and the history of conquest and its ideology. So this was a pilgrimage, and we were very lucky to see everything with a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and ope-hearted guide who was willing to share with us the perspectives of his Diné/Navaho heritage. (I was a little concerned about riding all day in an open coach and trekking through desert--but it was a very east day for me at 72, with a slight limp.) Larry's enthusiasm for the geological and cultural history of the area made the tour not only informative but breath-takingly vivid. The Valley is full of wonders but I'd never be able to appreciate them without a Native guide: we saw ancient pictographs up close, learned the traditions around the geological formations, scrambled up hills to prehistoric dwellings, and met local artisans and their lovely families. Larry shared with us his music and language. I will want to come back to this amazing place.
