Travis (Dark Sky) is perhaps the best guide we have ever had touring. Monument Valley through Diné eyes is fantastic! - Travis (Dark Sky) is a very talented cultural representative of the Navajo people, a great conversationalist, and very talented musician. We did the back country tour with him through monument valley and the two and a half hours with him on tour was the true highlight of our road trip.

A Real Tour with a Real Local - To start I'd like to say that I cant recommend this tour enough. My family and I took the Mystery Valley tour. Our tour guide was named Comasheena. She was very kind and knowledgeable. She showed us various Anasazi ruins and petroglyphs. And she also shared knowledge of Navajo culture and history. It was a fun time and I recommend it to anyone that wants an authentic experience in Monument Valley. I really appreciated that our guide grew up in the area and had generational knowledge to share.

Bucket List Tour - Went on the tour in December. There was wind and cold, invigorating air. Tony gave so much fascinating information that it was easy to forget about the cold weather. My husband and I both enjoyed the sights, Tony’s music and the great care he showed during our tour.

A Deeper Way to Experience Monument Valley - Monument Valley Backlot Tour by Tribal Tours was an unforgettable experience. Travis was our guide, and his knowledge, passion, and respect for this extraordinary spiritual place came through in every story he shared. It felt heartfelt rather than rehearsed, and we left the tour genuinely elated. The two-hour tour was perfectly paced and took us to incredible rock formations that look almost too dramatic to be real — yet there they were, rising from the desert exactly as nature intended. Places you simply wouldn’t see without a guided tour, and all the more meaningful for the context Travis provided. An amazing experience from start to finish. We would absolutely book another tour with Tribal Tours the next time we’re in the area. Well worth it and highly recommended.

Awesome tour that was fun for the whole family. - We went on a tour with Larry, who took us to all the major viewpoints, including the backcountry stops only accessible with a Navajo tour guide. It was great to go on an open air safari vehicle and have a Navajo guide explain everything you were seeing. My little one had a lot of fun riding the truck over the rugged terrain, and my older one appreciated all the close up views of the buttes. The backcountry stops are totally worth seeing, and our tour guide even played a musical instrument on the Big Hogan stop that really helped immerse you into the environment. If you’re visiting Monument Valley, it’s totally worth paying for the tour, especially with a guide like Larry.

Awesome - Don't miss this ! - We took the Back Country tour in November 2025. To say it was awesome would be an understatement. My wife & I were blown away with the stark beauty of the Monument Valley. Our Navajo guide was just about the coolest dude we'd ever spent 2.5 hours with. It flew by and we were treated to parts of the reservation you can't otherwise visit. We learned plenty about Navajo/Diné culture & we were even treated to some of our guide's music in the spiritual settings of the valley rocks. Amazing. D & A - UK.

Highly recommended - Our guide, Larry, was informative, insightful and friendly. I like his style. I particularly like how he provided info and insight once we were stopped, but during the drives he let us admire the scenery in peace and reverence, without the blaring amplified narration as I noticed some of the other tour companies were doing.
