- Merrick Butte - Named after the famous 19th-century prospector Richard Merrick, who was among the first to explore the area, this butte rises 5,000 feet above sea level. Highly recommended! - It was a fantastic experience! Our guide Ranger accompanied us excellently with the horses. He also told about the area. There was plenty of time to take pictures. Highly recommended if you are in Monument Valley!!!

The info provided was outdated and more than 2 years old, how to get there.
It is $8 to enter the area, payable at the toll gate.

Such a great experience <3 - Our group loved this tour! There were 6 of us, and our guide was Adam. We arrived at 1:30, but we didn’t actually start riding until 2:30 by the time the horses were saddled up. So the actual tour was about an hour and 30 minutes which was perfect. We all felt like that was an enough time so if you’re doing this for the first time and you’re unsure whether to book one hour or two, go ahead and do the 2 hour. You won’t be disappointed! Got to see several monuments up close, learned about some movie scenes shot there and also some of the local plants. Awesome experience and the best way to see the monuments in places you cannot reach with a car. The horses were tame and well behaved except one of the babies which was so cute. He was frisky but a good listener and just needed a little pat here and there. I’d take my family back another time, it was great! Thanks!!

Tranquility on horseback! - Loved this tour. Two hours on horseback, walking through such an iconic landscape. Was so peaceful away from the road and got some great photos! Would do again!

Good info on NAvajo traditions - Excellent guide, kept asking if we were okay. Horses were calm and rode right along. Dog ran with us thru the entire trail.

Great ride in the park! - We had a great tour guide Ranger and the horses were very good as well Sideburns and Kansas. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back and highly recommend this tour. What a great time in a. Truly enchanted land!

Well mannered horses, great guides and breathtaking scenery - We were taken out by Elvin and another guy whose name I can’t remember. So sorry, as he was a great guide!! We had the most fantastic experience riding through breathtaking scenery on well behaved horses who were well matched to our abilities. Would highly recommend

Not safe - What should have lasted two hours lasted an hour and a half. No hat proposed although it is noted on the reservation. My husband had his horse go up and my husband fell. Luckily he fell on sand and not rock because he had no protection. The guide didn't even get off the horse to see if he was okay. I see that there are many positive opinions but I can tell you that safety is not their problem.
